For all the heat he takes..Manning did his job last night. If he can play like that he is well worth the 650K for a 6th Dman. - 3flyerkids
He's played better with Gostisbehere, for sure. Trouble is he's been subpar, at best, with anyone else. It's fine if he can maintain it, but that's no certainty.
Chris Neil needs to be knocked the (frank) out.
- Mordecai
Thought Manning and Ghost had a solid game , respect that Manning stood up to Neil last game didn't win but showed up, can guarantee Medvedev would not have fought Neil like Manning did. Still think there's room for him on Roster with way Cap is and his low cap of $625.000. - Croatian
What the hell does repeatedly getting punched in the face by an aging goon have to do with being good at hockey?
Should have been a penalty, I am sure it is nothing Neil hasn't done 10,000 times. - 3flyerkids
Neil is a pretty dirty player, targets the head frequently but never gets called; particularly, his on on (Beauchemin I think) in the 07 Finals was a charge right to the head but somehow didn't get called. That said, Gudas put his forearm/elbow right into Zibanejad's head and it should have been a penalty.
Edit: It was Andy McDonald (not Andrew MacDonald). He basically superman's into McDonald's head

For 625K he is what he is. As long as he can play a simple game he is a good depth guy to have around at that price.
The guy IMO he needs to really do something is #93. Yeah I know his line mates are not the best but he couldn't even hit the net last night. Simply need more than 1 goal in 25 games

That's fine. Manning is a 6/7 guy (looking more like a solid 7) who you can put in with an injury with limited minutes. I'm just not sure why getting beat up by Chris Neil makes him more valuable than Medvedev.

I think that cat is just here to troll poor Feanor.
It is difficult watching this team, you always wait for them to misplay something and then curl into a ball like that bug does when you poke it.
I really want to be able to relax and enjoy watching Ghost etc, but there is not enough vodka or cells in my liver and brain left to tolerate getting comfortably numb enough until they develop some consistency other than being inconsistent.
Chris Neil.... hmmm was he involved in the big brouhaha years ago when Recchi was still on the team and I think Chara was a still a Senator, that legendary brawl. Hitch was still coach then?

Flyers have won 3 in a row, and are playing solid hockey right now.
Good game overall, few warts, but Ottawa is a team that has talent & they're an opportunistic bunch.
Wonder if Gudas gets a call from DoPS for his hit on Zibanejad. I was really surprised he didn't get hit with a penalty for that.
Mason looked really good, has a good groove going. Always figured he'd rebound, but still great to see.
Medvedev's bad turnover, not to excuse him, featured some bad play all around. He should have taken his time, skated it around the net and read the situation better. That said, it looked like Laughton could have skated harder to the puck, and Cousins was a step behind Smith as he got free in the slot, and Mason was at his mercy. - Jsaquella
Medvedev made a bad decision, then made a bad play with the puck, then a few other bad things happened, then they scored. Then Hakstol buried the 4th line for the rest of the game.
But it was great to see him come back and get his first NHL goal, which was a nice reward for the 2nd PP unit even though it came just after the penalty expired and counted as an ESG.
It's crazy that the Flyers and Lightning are tied in the standings given the talent discrepancy.
He was ducked down so low that there wasnt much other option than a hit to the head - Trainfellow
First of all he didn't duck down, he was in a shooting position, with the puck. Watch how Gudas was crunched down, and raises up into the hit, raises his arm with a direct elbow or forearm into the head. He had an option not to raise his elbow. He should have been penalized at the very least,

took me a minute to figure out what an Ice Reward was...im gonna go get some coffee
It may be beneficial to bring up Alt at some point and see what he can do. From a statistical standpoint, he looks solid at Allentown. Also, a right-handed dman with size and decent mobility is intriguing.
They need to get the PP going. If that happens, they'll start moving up the goals scored table. - Feanor
I agree only because we know what this PP is capable of....but still the biggest flaw of the team to me is ES scoring. It has been handled almost exclusively by 1 line for the last year and a half
