First of all he didn't duck down, he was in a shooting position, with the puck. Watch how Gudas was crunched down, and raises up into the hit, raises his arm with a direct elbow or forearm into the head. He had an option not to raise his elbow. He should have been penalized at the very least,

Yep. Anyone calling that a clean hit doesn't know what they're talking about. |

Didn't Gudas throw a similar hit on Turris later in the game? - wolfhounds
I don't think that hit was dirty, but it was blatant interference if I recall correctly. |

Clement could hardly contain his approval of the hits Gudas was throwing. Different era, I guess. |

Have to say, it's been fun and exciting watching this team play again lately. I hope this is a trend that continues. Whether or not they make the playoffs, if they can play with more consistency as they have the last few games, this season will be a lot more fun to watch. |

A player is allowed to be in a shooting position, with his stick on the ice, ready to shoot the puck, or in the act of shooting, which will naturally lower his body. Just because a player is in that position, which he was well before Gudas hit him, does not make it okay to hit the player in the head. Gudas rises up into the hit, and extends his elbow/forearm right into his head. The replay is clear. If the NHL is serious about player discipline for hits to the head, Gudas should be suspended. - MJL

I haven't seen a good replay of the hit. At first I thought that's what all the conversation was about regarding Gudas. I know it didn't look like Turris enjoyed it. |

Yup. They really do need to get Voracek back with Giroux. Playing him with Bellemare and VDV is just pointless. - BiggE
Once White is back Voracek will be surely be moved off the VdV-PEB line. |

They won three in a row and the line is clicking, let's just be happy joe. there will be plenty of time to be angry again, I'm sure. the season is young - funmaster18
The line has been clicking for several games now...they are just finally getting pucks to go in |

Scoring and skating, moving the puck like they know what they're doing. A dynamic team. Definitely more entertaining.
I'm hoping Hakstol isn't eyeballing Medvedev for a seat in the stands after his turnover last night. I guess it doesn't feel like the Russian has much of a leash, even with the wins, but I hope I'm wrong. |

They have better skating dmen than they've had in awhile. Medvedev and ghost are proving to be possible better options than streit and Schultz. They are more aggressive in the neutral zone and are much quicker in puck retrievals for this team and it's getting results for this team as they are much better in the neutral zone - Just5
Yup, agree on all points. |

No need to wait.
Just go with:
Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
VDV-Bellemare-Raffl
Laughton-Cousins-MacDonald
When White comes back just send down MacDonald, slide Raffl down with the kids and put White back with his usual linemates.
When Umberger returns, waive his ass and when Gagner returns, you can send Cousins back down and put Gagner with Laughton and Raffl.

So, basically, Hakstol is going to rearrange where Voracek plays to accommodate Ryan White...fantastic.
That said, I hope this is the case, because he's just being wasted down there. |

I don't have a problem with White but Hakstol seems to love the guy. I agree with you, if his return gets Voracek the hell away from those two, I'm all for it. |

Ah, you mean the LA Kings and Chicago Blackhawks method of playing hockey. I can get behind that. |

White's a fine NHL player. He's good on faceoffs, is good on the PK, brings a physical element to the team and will drop the gloves if needed. But beyond that, there's not much else to his game, despite his mini hot streak last season. |

I wasn't saying anyone was angry, just noting the similarities between the scoring method you said the Flyers are using and the scoring methods employed by the last 4 Stanley Cup winning teams. |

I doubt Umberger would be waived in favor of Colin McDonald, nor should he be.
I also don't think Laughton and Cousins should be on the Flyers if they are going to get 7 or 8 minutes a night. |
