I doubt Umberger would be waived in favor of Colin McDonald, nor should he be.

I also don't think Laughton and Cousins should be on the Flyers if they are going to get 7 or 8 minutes a night.

- Feanor

Agree with the last part, those 2 should be playing. If they're going to get benched in favor of 4th liners, send them down to the AHL.

Also, BiggE said to send MacDonald down when White returns, so he'd be waiving Umberger in favor of VdV/White.

Umberger is not being waived for Colin MacDonald. I thought they needed to waive him to create a roster spot, but I was mistaken (counting is not my strong suit!) When everyone is healthy my forward lineup would be:

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
VDV-PEB-White
Laughton-Gagner-Raffl
spares: Umberger and Vinny

However, if for some reason they needed an extra 375K of cap space, I'd have no problem with waiving Umberger and bringing MacDonald back up to be a spare forward. If I never see Umberger in a Flyers lineup again, I won't lose any sleep over it.

I started thinking of last season and Voracek's play and compared it to the what I've seen this season... I know he's slumping and prob feeling uconfident but Regardless Voracek had so much more fire in his play last year. He constantly was pushing to create play after play. He kept his legs moving. And this year it seems he's held back on this effort and fire he had last season. Idk what it is but last night there was a play where the voracek I know would have used his speed to try to get a quick rush going but instead slowed down a couple secs and waited for the puck to get dumped. Idk if his struggles are on him with effort or fire or if Hakstol is misusing him not only with his line spot just style of play in general. I really thought Jake was going to be last season form and thought him and Hakstol would have a great relationship based on their initial meeting in Jakes hometown. All in all I am concerned about Jake and feel he looks like a much different player.

BSH posted a chart a few days ago detailing just how much better the team has been since 11/14 (when Ghost was called up).

I decided to check the numbers again with the past couple of games included:

Scoring Chances: 54.9% (6)
High-Danger Chances: 58% (3)
Score-Adj Fenwick: 50.9% (11)
Score-Adj Corsi: 52.1% (9)

There is no question that adding Ghost and Medvedev to the lineup has greatly improved the Flyer's transition game. Having skilled mobile Dmen is a must in today's NHL. You'll probably see one big hulking guy on most rosters, mainly for PK duty and because there will always be a place for the physical element, but speed, skill and smarts are what you need most. I can't wait until Provorov and Sanheim are in orange and black too!

Philadelphia's Radko Gudas will have a hearing today for an illegal check to the head of Ottawa's Mika Zibanejad.

No, but they are big part. While Streit has skill, he's not the swiftest skater. Having 3 guys on D (MDZ is the other) that call all skate well and have good skills has been a big plus.

This is why it never hurts to bring a guy up and see what he's got. Some players just play better when the competition is tougher. I hope we get a look at each of the D prospects on the Phantoms by the end of the year. Never know who will surprise.

Agreed. A highly skilled player like Gostisbehere needs to play with other highly skilled players to succeed. You won't find a lot of guys in the A.H.L. with that kind of skill. That being said, I think his time in LHV served him well in helping to develop his all around game, but the kid is where he needs to be.

Idk. The quote doesn't say phone conference so I assumed an in-person meeting.

Also, in-person meetings generally lead to 5+ games. Was that hit worthy of 5+? I don't think so, but...
