Why, because he called him up when Drewskie was the only defenseman that could fit under the cap? - YuenglingJagr
That, and he did go out and sign the guy for this exact purpose:
“We added ... a couple smart players who have played quite a few games up top," Hextall said. "Davis Drewiske has played quite a few games up top. We added some guys to make us a better team at the minor league level as well as options when players get hurt or what not." |

No it wouldn't, but I fail to see how a couple of games would do him any harm. Even if he struggles, so what? If he is the kind of player that I think he is, it will only motivate him to go back to LHV and work even harder on improving the aspects of his game that need to be improved to get him back to the NHL. - BiggE
Generally, I agree. However, my fear is that Morin struggles, badly. Like, gets burnt for 3-4 goals and has all kinds of troubles. Then, after 1-2 games, gets sent back and basically has his confidence dashed. Yes, it would show him what he has to work on, but it also may make him question himself as well. There's no reason to bring him up to the big club right now. Let him play that majority of the season in the AHL, and late in the year, call him up with the understanding that he's not expected to be a permanent fixture on the team for this year no matter what. |

It's not going to do him any harm. Might be good for him. He's made huge strides in his first 20 games. He looked tentative and indecisive at the start of the season but you can really see his game coming around as he's gained confidence and adjusted to the change of pace. He's like any player, if you go into the game looking for him to do something wrong you're going to see it. No player at any level plays a perfect game. |

Were I Mario Lemieux, or more likely Jim Rutherford, I would have made an announcement along these lines:
"With respect to the NHL DPS ruling on Brandon Dubinsky's cowardly cross checks to Sidney Crosby, we are now aware of the off-ice punishment for cross-checking someone in the neck and proceeding to viciously cross-check them as they lay prone on the ice. We would expect the same punishment to be applied to all players, both victim and offender, regardless of any perceived star status. I look forward to our next game with the Columbus Blue Jackets, specifically Ryan Johansen, Ryan Murray, and Nick Foligno. The Penguins will have no further comment of the matter." - jmatchett383
that's exactly what the DPS deserves too |

I'm just going by Bill who said that Morin has been playing well the past few weeks. I'm not asking them to keep him up permanently, but, a game or 3 shouldn't impede his development at all. - BiggE

Then I would hope that they have the proper extinguishing equipment (aka paired with Manning). |

Shea Weber does not relinquish titles, he simply absorbs them into his playoff beard. |

If possible, I'd prefer to hold onto Schenn until at least the TDL and move Schultz, if that creates enough space. I feel that the change in return for Schultz between January and the TDL is not as significant as it would be for Schenn. But hard minutes etc. - jmatchett383
if I could move Shultz right now for whatever, I would. |

Thanks Bill. Back to .500 again...woohoo. Now, we will drop a couple of games, and then win a few back....up, and down.
Congrats to Ghost for his scoring touch. I am getting the feeling that the kids that were brought up are just what this team needed; fresh, and hungry players.
On to the next game....
Stop the V-check madness please. Stop that Manning madness please. Stop the VL madness please. Am I going mad?

Maybe I am crazy, but I really just don't see the point in it all. To make us fans feel better? What is it? The guy knows what the NHL is, he has been in training camps, every player wants to get there.
Would rather let him spend 20 minutes a night working on each aspect of his game at a pace the Flyers see fit for the Phantoms than 12 minutes a night trying to get out of his own zone in the NHL. If you want to talk about the mental aspect of it, being in the NHL could distract him.
I do think there is a difference in Ghost getting randomly called up for a few games in the NHL and being sent down if he sucks and Ghost getting called up to replace Streit on the PP.
I could just be playing devils advocate, but everyone is so excited to hand out these few game tryouts like they mean something more than just a few games. To me, consistency is the most important thing....and that goes for the prospects as well as the Flyers themselves - YuenglingJagr
Very well said. In my opinion, there are two different kinds of call ups. One is where there are injuries, and a player needs to be called up. In that case you choose the player who best fills the need, and who you think can best handle the situation. May not be a player you'd normally call up.
The other kind is a promotion based on merit. You don't call up a player just because you don't like the players who are already there, which is the perspective that a lot of fans have. Lets call him and give him a look type of thing. In that situation, you do what is best for the player, not for the big team.
As an example when looking at calling up Morin, what is best for him? Is it to call him up, or is it to keep him playing and developing in the AHL? Put the players development first. |

When is the last time Lecavalier played? Manning is fine as a 6/7 defenseman. |
