Jordan Staal is not a solid 2C, He has never been a solid 2C

He is an elite 3C and nothing more. If not for his name he wouldn't have been drafted #2 overall

If he wasn't drafted #2 overall people wouldn't have constantly been calling for him to be a #2 center (which he isn't) and he would never have been paid like a #2 center

The Penguins were the perfect place for Staal. Had he stayed here and made in the neighborhood of 4-4.5 million both him and the Penguins would have benefited. He would have had a great career in a winning environment and the Penguins would likely have had more playoff success and maybe another cup or 2

Instead he's an overpaid bust playing for a loser organization

We share the same opinion here. Staal was great here at 3C. He is a major disappointment now.

Hard pass. An overrated defenseman and two young players we probably won't be able to afford long term form Malkin alone is a bad move.

You are delusional if you don't think the Penguins would consider it. It's an overpay to me. I think that is too much coming back as Pouliot is the lone major ??? in that deal.

Well Vic don't take this the wrong way, but it's only a game! I'm old enough to get over how poop a team I support can play - I'm a coach now so the frustration serves what purpose exactly??

I get poopty when we lose especially to the arse end of town, but the thing is we are still winning games no matter how bad we are playing so points are still being tallied. It's an 82 game season & people here have given up after 10. I just don't see the point in getting frustrated & holding the grudge because next game the team wins & there some good feelings about getting the 2 points for a win.

I have lower expectations than most for this season, because it's unrealistic to think we can change the team so much & have such a young crew together in D & think we can win it all??? Chemistry & experience - experience with playing with the same players for half or 3/4 of a season works wonders to build a winning culture & team.

We are 8th in the league at the moment & there are plenty of very good teams below us. But we want perfection so it's not good enough! Teams are getting bailed out by their goalie every night but when ours does it there's a problem. Sid is not scoring as he has BUT doesn't have to carry the team to wins every night, the team is finding a way when we do win without Sid for the majority - how long has it been since anyone could say that! That in itself is a huge improvement, & before anyone says it, Geno is playing well & that's (frank)in fantastic.

I have watched games thanks to the YouTube streams, but it's middle of the day here & I have a company to run so it's not a great idea to sit down & watch a game I've never played & don't have a grasp of what it feels like to be in!

Although imagine if we were on 20 points??????????? Do you think JR would have a special price on calls to Switzerland??

Edit: You guys know what a Bounty is don't you? As in the chocolate bar?

I definitely understand what you're saying and your general outlook. I'm just saying that it's not unreasonable to be worried despite our record.

I don't care about our record or who's slumping. I can honestly barely watch a game it's very boring to me. I am not entertained.

Boring hockey sucks, but I can deal with it if the process is good. The bigger issue has been that our process has not been good save for a few games. I really want to believe we've turned a corner, but I've done this every time we play a good game and the very next game we revert back to garbage. I have a bad feeling it's going to happen again vs LA. Hopefully I'm wrong and we have a strong rest of the road trip vs LA and Anaheim.

Tough match ups for us. Those teams want to hit and control the puck. We seem to allow or almost encourage teams to do that. I'm not giving up but it's not fun to watch these guys. I'm not saying scrap playing defense but open it up a little.

Whats even more impressive about LAK is that they can achieve all that without the defensive prowess of Scuds till he's 90. They knew when to take out the trash and dumba$$ Shero was there to pick it up try to keep the "gang" together.

Thanks Shero!

- sammy87

Actually, he was a UFA and the Kings wanted to resign him but he wanted to move back to east coast to be closer to family. He (or his agent) actually contacted Shero about coming back on the first day of free agency. Shero said he told Scuderi he was surprised to be hearing from him...signed him.

Lombardi said he wanted to keep him on the Kings.

Did Ray tell you that himself? It's every gms job to at least call a players agent on or about FA day. That being said Scuderi really went downhill after he broke his leg in Toronto his first month or so back.

He was quoted saying it in articles right around that deadline that I read.

Sometimes its vice versa. Some agents reach out to teams their client(s) want to play for.
