So unless I suck at math (completely possible) the Sabres finished 2014 with 25 points. We currently have 23 points and have 13 games to play before ringing in the new year... How many do you think we end up with by end of the month? - Havic3814
I think we finish the season at 78pts. 53pt improvement is pretty good i say |

I purposefully teed that up for everyone.
Fact is, Lehner will be better than both of them come season's end. And beyond. - TheSabresTaco
I think you're right.
IMO there was a reason Jones /Lehner went for a first and Talbot/Lack slipped and went for much less.
Dont get me wrong still think it was a lot to give up, especially seeing how boeser, konecny and colin white are playing but the scouts knew jones and lehner were the guys to get |

i would like to see that top line from last year reunited, when ennis is healthy again.
Kane ror reinhart
Moulson girgenson ennis
Thats 2 lines that have chemistry together. The problem becomes finding wingers that compliment eichle better. Wonder if we would trade gio, mcginn, larsson and/or pysyk for wingers that fit that mould? The way coaliacavo has been playing has really made me question pysyks value. - joshs
Colaiacovo hasn't necesssarily played poorly, but I think you get a lot more from Pysyk than you do Coli. His skating alone is much better. |

ah you fixed it.
Honestly though by new years is when i had pretty much given up on watching last year.. so its been nice to see us pretty much where we were at last year a month sooner I'm just wondering where people think we will be at. Next couple games are very winnable... good stretch of solid tough games after that. - Havic3814
I unfixed it to make it funny again.
Schedule is pretty good for us the next couple weeks. Think we could get on a little run especially if we continue to score like we have the last 3 games. Arizona can't seem to stop a puck so hopefully a few of the slackers get some confidence back tonight. I think we could have 40pts by the new year... |

I don't hate Colaiacovo but they're are not even comparable.
As you mentioned his skating is much better (imo best on our back end). Also a real underrated part of his game is his first pass. That's the key to starting the offense is the first pass out of the zone that hits the forward with speed.
Thats the biggest difference I notice from last year. Even tho Franson isn't the best skater his got a great breakout pass that can make up for it.
Benoit, Merzaros and Weber struggled with that. |

O for sure. Pysyk is a upgrade. Just buried down the depth charts behind risto and bogo. Pysyk probably has value that could land us a up and comming winger to grow with eichle. Not seeing much value out of the other expendables larsson, weber, gionta, mcginn. |

so 17 out of 26 points.. optimistic while not outlandish, i find it hard to disagree |

Pysyk is more valuable to us on the roster right now than he would be in a trade. I'd rather keep him at this point than trade him because the type of player we need to get back in return is not going to be something Pysyk can get us at the moment. |

So now that Eichel has finally caught up with McDavid, he should surely pull ahead of him soon. How many games will it take McDavid to catch back up do you think? - TheIronSheik
who cares
and why waste your time coming to this blog to ask such a pointless question?
Oh, right, not much going on in Leaf land. |

Unless Pysyk is in the trade that gets us a defenseman like Fowler. I don't know what it would take, but starting with Ennis and Pysyk for Fowler would be good for me. |

I think a trade like that is dumb. Now you've weakened your forward group. Yes, Fowler is a better defenseman than Pysyk currently, but I don't think that trade would be smart. At all. |

Personally, i don't get the love for Fowler. Has had a few nice seasons, but 34 points isn't world beating. He's been an underachieving player most of his career. That said, I don't watch enough Ducks games to know if it's all about intangibles. |

Look at our next handful of games:
Yotes
Oil
Canucks
Flames
Kings (@ Buff and they play the night before in Pitt)
Wings
Devils
Ducks
All of these are definitely winnable by this Sabre group. I expect at least 10 pts. through this stretch of mediocre opponents. |

I haven't seen as many Ducks games recently as in the past, but his defensive game isn't exactly great last I knew. Yes, he'll get us more points than Pysyk probably ever will, but what are we sacrificing in our own end to get those. |
