Ennis would be a good starting point, but not what EDM is looking for, they are trying to get rid of that type of player. So we would be able to do something for a player like Yak but we are not good partners for EDM, we are both looking for the same thing.
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

I don't even want a Yakupov. A scoring winger would be nice, but I'd rather get a long term answer on defense and use the draft or free agency to find the wingers. In the order of importance, wings are the last on my list

Edit: Unless they come with sauce and Blue Cheese that is

Very smart in his own end, but it often gets overlooked because they're not big hits. Which is ridiculous but that's where the EDM media is at now.
- Sabresfan-365

O'Reilly isn't a big hitter though and he gets recognition.

Girgs has done exactly what has been asked of him this year and is doing it very well. The other two.....
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

Yet most around here are female doging about his production. I get it, his point totals could be higher. We've seen him do it before. But he's being asked to play a very different role this year. Bylsma said when he was out that he's played a very large role for them and that his absence was noticeable.

He is playing against the top lines in a shut down role and is -1 on an under .500 team, i would say he is doing his job pretty well. Anyone who doesn't see that does't understand that what he is doing is just as important as scoring.

This is another attempt at trying to get talent for throwaway pieces. You had to trade Myers for Kane. You had to trade Zadorov and Compher for O'Reilly. You can't trade insignificant pieces for someone with talent. Regardless of how he's performed, Yak has talent. There's a reason he went #1. He won't fetch the same as McDavid or Crosby just because they all went #1, but he has more talent than a hundred Pysyks.

Sabres do not have the pieces to make a Yak trade without stripping away needed parts of the rebuild.

- Zschalberg

you mean the yak with a career high of 17 goals or a career high of 33 points

the guy is putting up points at a clip of under .5 per game, a defensive sieve and honestly his trade value drops with each passing week he plays

Not in EDM eyes, he will forever be a #1 pick. Therefore over valued no matter what his stats or play say.

But yes i agree with you.

Up until the Det game (as in i didn't see much of it) i thought this was his best season yet (im deadly serious)

Points are everything apparently. When Risto shut down the triplets line in one of the TB games people were questioning whether he could be a top 4 (four!) d-man.

When he picks up a few secondary assists vs detroit but gets dominated now he's suddenly worth of being called a potential top pairing guy.

that's why the oilers will sit on him

as long as they view him as a number 1 overall pick instead of his play on the ice

then again ennis is over the hill at 26 years old

He does? folks this summer in canadian media were calling him clarkson 2.0. I was admittedly one of those who thought his defensive game wasn't as good as what people were saying.

They've both suffered from being out in western markets (in nuge's case edm pre mcdavid era)

They won't sit on him because they view him as a #1 pick. They'll sit on him because the upside of him working with McDavid is greater than what they'll get via trade.

I thought Risto would be an ok number 2 d man, now I think he has potential to be the centerpiece for the d

if that makes any sense

This. I'm not saying he's WORTH what it would take to get him. I'm saying that's what it will take to get him because that's the cost. Like I said, I don't want him.

He still looks young at times and can make bad decisions, but man when he doesn't, the kid is exactly what we need. He's got the potential to get there, let's see if he gets it.

They won't trade him IMO.

Eberle and or Yakupov might move, but they would be idiots to trade Hall, RNH, McDavid or Draisaitl

- sbroads24

Disgaree as I believe they think McDavid, Draisaitl, Hall, and Nurse are their core to build around, and while they would likely rather offload one of or both Eberle and Yakupov, they would trade RNH because they believe they would receive the largest haul for him.

An RNH for Weber, Edmonton & Nashville trade would make sense for both of those teams, even despite Weber being 30.

It's exactly how we got trapped with Myers though. All we saw was points and plus minus, not the underlying problems.

That pairing gets pelted in it's own end. For now I suppose you could chalk it up to Gorges being too old and Risto being too young but it's still concerning.

That was a different coach and a different system and a different year. They haven't been able to replicate any instance of that success ( Moulson has been the best of the 3) apart. I don't care if they're put together, but I don't think that it's some magic formula that all of a sudden Girgensons is going to go off and get 30 assists and Moulson will get his Tavares numbers back and Ennis will become worth his money. All three are okay players.
- Zschalberg

they haven't been paired up this year at all. atleast give it a look for a few games. how can you just ignore what they had last year?

He probably doesn't get the recognition he deserves, but he gets more than RNH does.

They have nothing behind them in terms of center depth though.

RNH is an all around stud.

If a 1 for 1 trade is to be made, I think it involves Seth Jones, not Weber. Weber has cost Nashville too much in terms of dollars for them to move him now.
