They sent Schaller down and he would have been the extra F. Three game road trip so they probably wanted a 13th forward. I'm guessing he'll play at least one game - Khymlev13
I would agree, probably just need that extra forward for the trip out west. |

Agreed. The Jets trade is an even tighter call right now. I almost think we won't be able to measure that one until after the players involved leave the teams or retire. It's that close so far IMO.
Ps- don't come at me with Armia and Lemieux. Those two can go sit in locker rooms with towels oover their heads, weeping, as far as I'm concerned. - Der Kaiser
We don't need to 'win' the trades either. We gave up a lot and that's fine. Other than Zads we didn't give up top-end prospects. Murray is genius to tradIng decent prospects for young top-end talent. I

Morning Folks,
Saturday mornings feel much better after a win.
Question about the game last night as I didn't get to watch doing that whole "work" thing.
I see we had a challenge go our way, was it blatantly obvious that Johnson was interfered with or did it just actually go our way? |

He definitely got a small piece of the glove. That said, I was mildly surprised it was overturned. I think the football challenge system has soured me on this stuff.

Last night looked like the best lines and player management in a game so far. All combos looked good, if not great; we had several sustained periods of offensive pressure; special teams were solid; Girgs ALMOST got as much ice time as Gio; 4th lines played a big part; nobody took the bait when Scott was trying to get a scrap going. We won a challenge, woo=hoo!
And it was fun to watch. - LandlordTom
Helps that the yotes fundamentally suck, but yes |

he should pay you as his posts went up a tenfold this evening - homiedclown
Just love messing with the Trolls that seem so offended By Garth . Garth is what he is. And it seems that is okay with Eklund. Comic relief!

Watch the interview w Foligno from last night. coaching has everyone understanding their role and buying in. Talent is for the most part slotted properly. Despite some holes, they're gelling.
We're not done, but we're dangerous. - Der Kaiser
if, and I say if
the sabres go on a streak to get them a cushion over .500, does murray make a move to improve the team?
I have to think ennis on the second line helps and slots gionta to the third, assuming skunk stays on top line
taking 7/8 points now puts us 5 points out of a top 8 slot
and I can see them getting 15 points in the next 11 games |

the big thing, which I mentioned before, is now you have lines playing at the proper level
in the past there was third liners playing 20 minutes a game, and 4th liners playing 15 minutes a game
on D, we had 6th/7th d men playing 20 minutes a night
right now, our 4th line may be as good as the islanders, and I was nagging on that group a few weeks ago - homiedclown
It's not as extreme, but Gionta and Gorges playing as often as they do is way above what they're capable of at this stage of their careers.
This team is exactly what its record shows, too good for the bottom feeders, not good enough against the top teams. Unfortunately to make the playoffs you have to beat those teams every now and then. |

A couple of weeks ago, maybe longer, Tim Murray was on WGR saying that when we get closer to the trade deadline he will evaluate the roster and our place in the standings and decide if he should make a trade to help out the team for a playoff run or be a seller.

I'm more optimistic.
The season so far has been dedicated to finding the right lines and perfecting a new system. Key players have also been injured. High quality chances didn't get cashed.
Through the last month, as the team was improving regularly, the schedule was a bear: and there was ONE lopsided loss. One goal losses are everywhere in there, against genuine contenders.
You're right, we have to beat those teams before we can be real. But don't go looking for a towel to cover your head with: there's no need to weep. |

I'm becoming more optimistic. Kane looks different lately to me.
At first, it seemed what WPG fans complained about was true, he just skated up and down the ice taking shot after shot, scoring once and a while.
Last few games he looks like he's going to the net, making solid plays defensively, and actually burying his chances. If he can stay healthy and play like this I will be complaining a lot less about giving up too much. |

I would like to stay status quo. And let the current chemistry continue to develop . I am not in a rush to make the playoffs. I am more concerned with cup runs in a few years.

Top line is firing on all cylinders.
Give McGinn a 3 game tryout to see if he really can ride with 15. Toss in Ennis when he gets healthy.
Lioneater plays with the Captain and Larsson as a vicegrip shutdown.
4th line knows their job, likes it, and pitches in when Foligno takes the advice to shoot more.
It's not what anybody thought it would look like in the preseason, but it could make some noise. |

When I was listening there were two times Kozial said Paul was with Kane but the first interview was CJ and the second was Reinhart (I think). So I think his tweets might have been about the mess up in communication but I'm not positive |

The third line corsi'd the poop out of the yotes last night.
When Larsson and Girgs are at their best that's a crazy good shut down duo.
