It's going to be exciting though. It's time, not getting any younger. - MidnightMarauder

He won't come unless he's 'guaranteed' to make the team. I expect Buchnevich to do exactly like Panarin - a top6 performer from game 1. - 21peter
I know Pete, I cans reads pretty ok.
I was just saying it would have been nice to get him playing in the AHL if he would have been open to it. |

I doubt the AHL will be an issue for him. I don't think he'll have trouble making a pretty weak Carolina squad. |

No way It should be necessary for him to play with those scrubs. Expecting 60 points from him next season. |

Well I don't know all the rules, or regulations and what not, but if it was possible, I wouldn't have minded him in the AHL this year, and then brought up if he was dominating down there. |

That's the point, we can all care about whichever sports team we choose to but with a limit.
I used to hold onto to losses and wins like it was the end all be all. Getting older, and I guess wiser, allows perspective.
So does having a wife and soon to be extended family. - MidnightMarauder

I think Panarin is kind of an exception rather than the rule. The difference from the KHL to NHL is pretty big...you have a different ice size, language barrier, more difficult schedule...it's a lot for a kid to adjust to. I'd look to Tarasenko and Kuznetov's development path when they came over as more of a guide of what we can expect. |

I just feel confident this guy is an exception to the rule as well.

We could sit here and talk about him needing to learn the North American ice and all this. Stick him on the second line with Kreider and Stepan and call it a day. See what you have there. The AHL isn't gonna do any good. He's right and it's not even debatable. The AHL won't do much for him. He destroyed the MHL, he's already a star in the KHL at 20. He's ahead of the curve. This team needs him come playoff time. I think , with this being his first big playoff (aside from the Russian teams he's been on in the WJC) he will be very excited and will perform well. |

Actually its very debatable. I have no problem bringing him up and see where he is at, but for a guy who has never played a minute against NHLers to say, yeah he is going to fit right in and play great is extremely premature. He might fit right in, and he might fall on his face. I hope its the former, but you never know. |

No I agree, but you tell him to expect a different game, I really believe he is the type of guy that knows all this and will be ready when he comes over. He could use a few AHL games but I think a few NHL games will be good for him. The only thing the AHL will do is give him the N.A ice. The competition is weaker than the K. Once he plays a few games down in the AHL he will still need to get used to the players and extreme competition. Might as well let him jump right in like he wants to and kill two birds with one stone. |

Yeah, I have no issue bringing him right in like they did with Kreider in the playoffs when BU was finally done.
My response about the AHL was "if" he would have accepted that at the beginning of this year It would have been nice to get him acclimated to NA and the style right after camp. And if he was as good as we all hope he could be, he might have been called up by now. |

But we all do, the difference is knowing when to say when. When I was single & younger losses, particularly playoff time were so excruciating I couldn't sleep, bothered me for days. Now the sting is still there but I let it out for an hour or 2 after the game & by morning I've moved on. And that in NO WAY makes me or any other fan who acts like this less of a fan, or I'm not as invested than the "sky is falling" people.
It makes me realize what's more important, like my sanity & my wife & children healthy. - B2B76
Yeah brother!
Well, except for the sanity part. Still haven't quite figured that one out. |

Sounds like the best possible outcome for the salary cap next season is $74.5 million |
