Prediction:
Part 1) Sidney Crosby will have a falling out with Pittsburgh a la Roy and Montreal. He will demand to be traded to Philadelphia only and will refuse to play until he is traded.
Part 2) The Flyers trade Simmonds, the Schenn's, and VLC to Pittsburgh for Crosby.
Part 3) Modell's sells out of Crosby Flyers jerseys in 8 minutes and Flyers' fans say they never spoke ill of Crosby.
Part 4) Simmonds score Stanley Cup winning goal for Pittsburgh in quadruple OT of Game 7 for Pittsburgh.
Part 5) 2Real's head literally explodes. - jmatchett383

Do we have to discuss Macdonald? - FrmRusiaWifGlov
What's to discuss? Slightly overpaid 4/5 defenseman. Could be easily traded. |

I wonder how much of an impact the coaching staff had with Hartnell, as well as the money. It's been widely reported that Hartnell & Berube butted heads.
Either way, there's enough other factors there to make me think that there's more to the surface there. - Jsaquella
Not trying to create an argument but if we had Hartnell still how different do you think this team would have been? I understood the trade. I think losing the two extra years were big in that that money will be needed in the future when the team is better equipped to contend in the playoffs.
Yes he might have helped win a couple more games but I really had no problem and still have no problem with the move. |

Seems conceivable - PhillySportsGuy
Well, it all depends on how many jerseys Modell's buys on the first truck load. The 8 minute mark was based on 20,000,000 jerseys. |

Agreed. The fact they took on Umberger and didn't seem to give a poop about his injuries was strange. If a guy has a herniated disc, it will show up with an X-ray or MRI. Seems like that would be standard for a physical of a player suffering from that type of injury. |

About time he's back with Giroux. 1 goal in 27 games is hard to fathom.
Raffl has no business playing on a top line in the NHL, but none of the other options are ideal. - PLindbergh31
Yup. Maybe they cam move Ghost to LW |

Just gonna say it: The Flyers will not trade Wayne Simmonds this season. I'm sure Montreal and some other teams are interested, and I'm sure the Flyers and other teams are interested in Tyler Seguin. It doesn't mean either will be traded. - jmatchett383
If you had to pick a top three to get move who would you guess?
(not a want to move but guys that oculd be gone at TDL or before)
Mine:
1. Read
2a and 2b: Luke and Brayden Schenn
3. Medvedev
Yes. I cheated a little. |

I had no problem with moving Hartnell. It was the return that annoyed me. They sold low on him. He's a top line player on a contract that isn't even as bad as people make it out to be. |

No argument here. They'd be better right now, but if/when his game declines they'd be facing a bad contract locked in with a NTC. They'll have more flexibility and if Umberger can get back to how he played earlier this season, it's not a terrible move at all. |

I didn't think they were going to get much. He had a full no trade and while his contract wasn't terrible it wasn't great either. |

I hope Hartnell produces 50+ points every season of his current contract only to re-sign with the Flyers and go right in the poopter. |

It's not really a want to move, but those are the guys I'd try to flip at the TDL to add picks/prospects/clear cap room for the future |

I would have been fine with them just dumping him for nothing. They not only traded a top line player, but they traded him for a player who has made the team worse when he's on the ice. The team is literally better off with AHL level callups (VDV, White, McDonald) than Umberger.
I know exactly what is going to happen. Hartnell will continue to produce at a nice clip until the final year of his contract when he bottoms out. Everyone on here will talk about how smart Hexy was for trading him as if the previous 4 years never happened. |

And why would you want that?
Because you are a Hartnell Fan?
This is why I don't get associated with players. I like the Flyers. They could move Giroux today and as long as it made the Flyers better I could care less. |

I don't think most people have an issue with Hartnell going as much as what came back. It's not losing Hartnell so much as losing Hartnell and adding Umberger, a player who Columbus was ready to buy out. Seemed like really bad value.
However, if we had Hartnell, our PP and top-line production would likely be better, but that probably translates to a worse lotto pick last year. |

So if he was with the Flyers and produced at a nice clip where would the flyers be? Still a team with problems and probably drafting later and missing on Provorov because they won a couple more games. |

And I get that.
I guess I am ok getting the higher pick because I think it helps in the long run. I always thought Umberger would be a 3-4 line type player and possibly an LTIR player until he came off the books. |

And it will all just be mental jacking because in the bigger picture it doesn't make a difference anyway. |
