Yeah, it'd be better to send him to San Jose or Calgary, but he's a guy you sell to get a significant return, not a guy you really shop. Only way I'd "shop" Simmonds is to wait until another GM makes an offer, and then maybe start offering him around to drive the price up or start a bidding war. - Jsaquella
Of course. If Hextall decides he wants to trade Simmonds he might as well create a bidding war. I think some GMs would definitely overpay for Simmond's PP presence and toughness.

That's the main reason I'd consider moving Simmonds-he's the kind of guy you can usually get another GM to overpay on

Fact: The version of "You're a Mean one Mr. Grinch" from the TV special is better than the one on the soundtrack (which is what the always play on the radio).
i find this emotion narrative as lazy as the goaltending narrative. The flyers have become a soft team. they beat the penguins alot because theyre soft as well and fleury was an absolute sieve in that series. In the devils series, the devils were strong on their forecheck and didn't give the flyers forwards free reign. if you need emotion roll a goon out there to fight. - JoeRussomanno[/img]
I can understand emotional letdowns from time to time over the course of a season (for short periods of time) but for this to be a chronic issue for going on five years now seems implausible.

Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier, B.Schenn and Mason are my only safe players. If we are giving up on any of these guys, the return better be good.
Read, Raffl, Streit and Schultz are the types I'd like move away from. No hatred towards any of them. I just think Ghost is productive enough to replace Streit and the other guys just aren't productive enough.

Not if they got a good enough return. Trading Recchi turned out fine. - Jsaquella
As was the Carter and Richards trades but we have missed a pure shooter like Carter ever since. Hartnell haunted us Saturday. Simmonds will too. The contract is too good to give up.

Care to explain how they've beaten upper-echelon team like Chicago, NYR, and Nashville, have taken TB, LA, and San Jose to OT, yet can't beat bottom feeding teams like Buffalo, Edmonton, Calgary, NJ, and Colorado?

This is my first post after lurking around here for a year or more. Bill, thanks for the great work that you have done for a looong time. I read your posts almost every morning and appreciate all the effort. Nobody else comes close. So, thanks.
Agreed on moving Jake back to the top line. What is missing most from his game is confidence. He's got no mojo. Passing from the slot and not making the end runs around d-men on the rush are evidence of this. I think top minutes on the top line is the only way to get that back. He's too valuable an offensive asset, which the Flyers are desperately short on this season, to bury him on the 3rd line for very long.
