Agreed. The point was, there is a return out there for which you move Simmonds. What that return is and who's willing to pay it are unknown. |

Who pays for McDavid's transportation to Philly? - Scoob
Mike Richards smuggles him. |

The deal is off. He's not good at that. |

As was the Carter and Richards trades but we have missed a pure shooter like Carter ever since. Hartnell haunted us Saturday. Simmonds will too. The contract is too good to give up. - SuperSchennBros
No, it's not. Subsequently failing to add a pure shooter after the Carter deal doesn't mean you pass up a good enough deal. Hartnell had a good game and was a bad trade, in terms of on ice value. Neither means you say no if somebody is offering a good enough deal for Simmonds.
Nobody is saying to trade Simmonds for the sake of it. They're saying he's a guy you can likely get a rival GM to overpay for |

Exactly. You could have a Simmonds trade turn out like the Recchi trade, although most people thought it was a massive mistake at the time. If that return is out there than is too good to pass up, you do it. If you're lukewarm about it, you don't. |

That's the case for anyone, Giroux included. If another team offered me a very good prospect who was close to being NHL ready, plus a defenseman who is 23 and already playing a top four role for Simmonds, I'd definitely give a good listen. |

Looking around the league and our cap situation, not much makes sense or is realistic. You trade Simmonds, we have a big hole. |

Simmonds contract is not too good to give up in the right deal, but his contract has to be considered as part of the value given up in a trade of Simmonds. What also has to be considered, is the Flyers can't afford to miss, in a trade of an important established player such as Simmonds, for unproven prospects. |

I wouldn't. We only have one legitimate Power Forward who is a voice in the locker room, where we lack. We have 4 highly regarded prospects on defense. |

Absolutely. You'd either need a slam-dunk prospect (Ekblad/Tavares draft year type) or a proven yet young player (read: inexpensive) who fills an area of need. You can't just take a handful of okay prospects and hope that they turn out good. |

If Winnipeg called and offered Ehlers and Trouba, I'd...well, drive him to Philly, not Winnipeg. But I'd do that in a heartbeat. |

The point of a Simmonds trade would be to help the team down the road. They'd obviously be worse without him currently |

I would probably want McCarron or Scherbak if Simmonds was going to Montreal |

I like Morrissey. I think a bigger need is forwards with Skill and Speed. I would need some forwards in deals. |

So this type of view isn't a problem to you? We've made trades that past 5 years for a better tomorrow. Now that tomorrow is right around the corner, your okay with another set back deal? |

That dman would have to be right handed for me to be interested. We have too many good D prospects who are left side guys in Provorov, Sanheim and Morin. Plus MDZ for at least another season.
I can't really think of anyone in that mould who would be available for Simmonds, and would work in the Flyers cap structure. |
