Absolute second pairing defenseman.

The point of a Simmonds trade would be to help the team down the road. They'd obviously be worse without him currently

Exactly. And, while not because of him, they're pretty bad now anyway so how much worse could it get?

That dman would have to be right handed for me to be interested. We have too many good D prospects who are left side guys in Provorov, Sanheim and Morin. Plus MDZ for at least another season.

I can't really think of anyone in that mould who would be available for Simmonds, and would work in the Flyers cap structure.

So this type of view isn't a problem to you? We've made trades that past 5 years for a better tomorrow. Now that tomorrow is right around the corner, your okay with another set back deal?

What's right around the corner? I think they are about 2-3 years away from acutally being a consistently good team and making a playoff run.

What about Morrissey, Stafford and a first rounder?

Morrissey would be our 5th best D prospect, and he's another leftie.

You gonna pay for the day care and reimburse my PTO somehow? If so, then yeah. Especially if we can listen to nothing buy Hocus Pocus by Focus the entire way.

Losing Simmonds means more lack of leadership. More lack of toughness/Grit. More lack of scoring. The Power Play would be damaged.

Nope. Not a Stafford fan, and while Morrissey is good, I don't think he's any better than Provorov/Sanheim.

That'd be anyone with sense. Ehlers has top line potential, could be a 30 goal scorer every year, and Trouba could end up being a franchise type defenseman. If you called Winnipeg and offered Simmonds for them, the only thing you'd hear is laughter and a click

I like Myers, but the deal would have to be bigger since his cap hit is higher than Simmonds.

LSchenn + Simmonds for Myers + something since Simmonds is worth more than Myers

Also, Winnipeg are in danger of missing the playoffs (same Points% as us) and I think it's best to trade Simmonds to a real contender. To get the best value for the Flyers, and cause Simmer deserves it.

They aren't going to be contending this year or next year. If someone offers a 1st rounder + decent prospect, I think it would be smart to take it. Same goes with B Schenn and Streit. We always talk about how bad the defense is on this team, but the forward depth at even strength hasn't been good either.

It would be nice to be able to move guys like Raffl, Read and Schultz for a good return, but the reality is the three of them won't bring back more than Simmonds alone.

Like Morrissey, but as other mentioned, he's probably no better than the 3rd or 4th best D prospect we'd have. Zero interest in Stafford.

Why does that matter? You make the best deal for your team and franchise. Not because you like a guy. I'd sent him to the worst team in the league if I am getting the best deal.
