moulson is playing less then 15 minutes per game and on pace for 33 points, typical third liner with an even +/-
bogo is bogo, love him or hate him, he is doing exactly what he did last year and is a presence they need on the blue line, IMO he needs a better partner (mccabe or pysyk)
legwand is putting up a point in every 3 games playing less then 10 minutes a night, I have zero issues with him
gionta needs to be playing 14 minutes a night, not 20 - homiedclown
Right, but when you have a young team, you need the vets to pick up the slack when guys like Reinhart, Eichel, Risto have growing pains. We aren't getting that.

edmonton had the matchups they wanted. Buffalo needed the pp In a big way and we needed a little puck luck. We had 3 posts, all clean shots that beat the goalie and edmonton had a marginal kick in goal and a dirty wrist shot from the point that had eyes. Were gonna lose puck pattles sometimes and give up goals so im not upset about anybody in particular, we just didnt get the breaks. - joshs
Edmonton took it to the sabres last night, imo...it seemed as if they won every battle and were much quicker to the puck |

We did have a couple hard stretches of games in there as well. Would have liked to see better play last night against a team that seems to be struggling still. Hopefully the west coast trip brings the team closer together like we've seen in the past. |

Every now and then a team has a great night and play like all stars. The oil had their night last night. Sabres didn't |

That is exactly what happened. We didn't catch any breaks either, which is becoming normal .
Also, we are down 2 goals and Franson and somebody else are cracking jokes and poop. What the (frank)!??!?! Where is the passion? |

Quite possible. However, if I'm his teammate and I see him Richardin' around when we are down 2 goals, I would lay it into him. That's frankly BS. |

agreed, but am still willing to cut him plenty of slack for now...only 10 games thus far - Michael Pachla
He also missed all of training camp to his defense(Punny).
Imo the Hall hit was fine at 2 minutes.
Other game notes:
Johnson: I'd like to say he could be better but he faced a lot of high level chances (2on1's galore). 1st goal:Tip, tough to stop. 2nd: guy left alone from bogo freebee back door.3rd: Hall swarmed our D maybe couldve had. 4th: unluckly bounce off a scrum in front.
McCabe: surprised it took this long but really struggled. Rookie speedbump.(not worried)
Gio: Given him a lot of slack but thought this was one of his best games.
Moulson: Starting to get hard to defend him... The worst part is because of his style he needs to play with a puck moving center but he's producing at a 4th liner level. |

It's obvious that Moulson's game hasn't adjusted yet to Bylsma's system as the winger seems out of position and not in the play a lot this season. Mouslon does his best work around the net scooping up loose rebounds and burying them in close.
I'm kinda surprised he doesn't have that net front presence on the PP for that reason, and I think once he starts burying those he'll get his game back on track.
I like Gionta's game in a 3rd line roll as the guy has good veteran presence and his effort on the forecheck is persistent, but, as others have said, he doesn't deserve 20 minutes a night in the top 6 if he's not contributing on the scoresheet.
Still find it somewhat of a shock that Girgensons game looks a lot different from last year in that he scored almost by sheer will and determination by forcing his way through guys, but this year he seems to be in more of a grinder type roll.

What puzzles you? New team takes time to mesh throw on some lenghthy injuries and some bad bounces. Still a very good corsi team that outshoots and outpossesses the opponents most nights. Were competitive but still a few years away from being dominanat but we have a good core. Do this help ya? - joshs
The "time to mesh" grace period is over. It worked in October and November, but this season is no longer young. NHL Network radio put out an interesting stat a while ago that the top 8 in both conferences are usually set by US Thanksgiving. The actual seedings obviously change, but the who's in of the top 8 usually don't. |

They should be. And eventually will be.
Problem is the veterans on this team are the worst players
Legwand
Moulson
Gionta
Bogosian
All are not playing very well or not producing. If those players play to the level they are paid or expected to, this team has 3 or 4 more wins IMO - sbroads24
I wouldn't put Bogosian or even Legwand on the list of worst players. Bogo is fine and will get better with Covo off his hip, you will have a bias towards him until he or you are 6 feet under.
Legwand has been a fine 4th line center, nothing more or less and he wasn't supposed to be anything more since he's been in the league forever.
Now, McCabe has been one of the worst players lately, he is out of position, falls over his own feet and looks to need some more AHL time when Pysyk comes back.
Moulson is pretty worthless except he's Eichel's landlord.
Gionta is old and doesn't produce much, if the Sabres had more talent he would never see the light of day in the top 6 or the PP
When Ennis was playing he was in the bottom 5 worst players for some reason, perhaps due to his unknown injury.
Foligno has been himself, an unproductive big body since his first stint in the league when he put up some points for some reason. |

It's not bias, he's has incredibly bad underlying numbers right now.
He's a 43% posession player.
He's getting scored on more than any other defensemen, and is on the ice for the least amount of goals for

Who is he playing with? Why does he kill penalties and more and more play the point on the PP? Why is he on the ice late in games? Bylsma sees him differently. |

A little disappointed in the game last night. I watched Edmonton play either Thursday or Friday and they looked like a bad, bad team. They were definitely the better team last night... |

We don't have better options. Like I said earlier, he will look better when we get better defensemen in front of him.
