I also blame the Sixers a little. Look at the Bucks. They signed a great vet in Garnett so that Karl Anthony Towns had someone to mentor and kind of lead him in his first season. Help him be a pro. Kind of like Briere with Giroux and Couturier.

The sixers don't have that so these kids are on their own in a way.

Can't answer that. The whole idea of "The Process™" is to give yourself as many opportunities to find talent as possible. I think it's coming to a head this offseason though. The Sixers greatest asset was always patience. It's basically pointless to start moving forward if you don't have that foundational piece. It appears the league has finally had enough and is going to force their hand. If you actually watched the team this year, you'd recognize how subtle little things have changed the perception of the team. In the end, I bet they won't end up being the worst team in the league. They haven't ever finished with the worst record in the league under Hinkie.

In short, as of Jan 1 nobody will get draft picks for hiring ex-coaches and ex-GMs.

I even wonder if the sixers will stay in Philadelphia. Once they destroy the rivershark stadium they could build a facility there. Also with him owning the Devils they could possibly move there once the lease is up.

This ownership group is weird as I don't think they are long for it.

I think there were reports now that the league kind of force Colangelo on to them because they needed to speed up the rebuild quicker.

My problem with the sixers is they didn't even try to find untapped talent. Yes, high picks will likely net you a good player. But they haven't even tried to find a player like Jimmy Butler or a guy who has potential to turn into something.

I disagree completely that it's basically pointless to start moving forward. It if it's true, good for the league. Hinkie is as close to falling on his face as he is to succeeding, if not closer. I've watched enough games to know that has nothing has changed about their perception in the league. They're pretty much an embarrassment, which is why the league stepped in, and they hired Colangelo.

Spoken like someone who knows nothing about the team. They've been without Wroten, Covington and Marshall for much or all of the season. Noel has also been hurt. Covington is probably their best all around player (yes better than Noel and Okafor). Wroten is also an NBA player and many teams were interested in trading for him last year until he tore his ACL. Marshall and Jerami Grant would be welcomed on any NBA team, but likely wouldn't see a ton of minutes. Their problem is that they're playing young guys in big minutes. They stay in just about every game, but then (frank) up in the final minutes because they don't have the star player to give the ball to. Wroten isn't great, but he'll help in that regard.

I believe that the reasoning was that most coaches/GMs are never "fired" but they are "relieved", meaning that (until their contracts run out) they are still under contract from their former team, they just get a very long paid vacation. Yes, it's a stupid rule, but that's the reasoning.
