WHAT IS THE VINNY BOMB
- Winning

He's been a good player the entire time, just hasn't been trying.

I don't think Vinny is injured either. He was reported to skate in the optional skate practice this morning

Not sure where you got the idea the scoring chances he gives up are low danger ones.
- Feanor

Dave Staples is an idiot. He's been selling his own brand of 'analytics' for years... it's just a bunch of weighted event counts scored via his own biases... he's a stats pariah.

So apparently now he's in the scoring chance game, too.

Fayne is currently ranked 3rd on the Oilers blueline in fewest high-danger chances against per 60, despite giving up the 2nd-most overall chances per 60:

It's kind of weird, but hey, #'s don't lie.

Is there an accepted criteria for "high danger chances?" I'm not sure what criteria there is for a scoring chance and the corresponding criteria for "high danger" varieties.

At 6'4, 215 lb and in better shape than 98%+ of the world's population, I doubt this.

it is up for interpretation...another reason why SSS can flaw the data

I don't know what SSS means/is, but if there's no defined criteria for evaluation, it seems like a very arbitrary stat that could vary greatly depending on who logs the data.

I think it's based on shot location/distance from net

Yeah, but they take it a step further and take into account shots (from distance) that result in rebounds, and 'rush shots' too:

I mean, he seems pretty convinced he's Gudas. Not sure if that translates to equal pugnacity. Perhaps it's time we arranged this experiment, for science's sake.

Man, stats sure do change. It wasn't so long ago the entire Maple Leafs front office was laughed out of this universe for insisting shot quality mattered.

Of course, that wasn't the only contentious thing they said, but still.

small sample size. the most defined criteria is odd man rushes and shots from the "home plate" but, but its not as simple as a blocked shot
