I agree. I don't think he's embarrassing himself either. He thinks he can still play, and he's just simply not ready to end it. Look at what players like Pacal Dupuis and Kimmo Timmonen went through just to try and play? They wanted to go out on their own terms or until they were forced out. Lacavalier has a contract, so he can't be forced out right now. Both sides are posturing. - MJL
Perhaps Tampa Bay is willing to make a deal. I hear they have a malcontent on an expiring contract who wants too much money, maybe we can find a fit. |

It's not. Neither side has to do anything. Nobody has to blink. Nobody is bluffing so there's nothing to call. It's really all in the Flyers' hands on how they want to deal with it and it's pretty much a financial decision first, and a roster decision second. - Scoob

Damn, and i thought the NFC East was bad:
1. The Vancouver Canucks have won 10 games. No team in the entire NHL has won fewer games than that. Carolina and Toronto are the only others with just 10. The Vancouver Canucks are in third place in the Pacific Division.
2. The Arizona Coyotes have lost 14 times in regulation. Only three teams have lost more in regulation than that. Columbus has the most, with 16. The Arizona Coyotes are one point out of second place in the Pacific Division.
3. The Anaheim Ducks have scored the fewest goals in the NHL. The Anaheim Ducks are one point out of second place in the Pacific Division.
4. The Calgary Flames have played 27 games, they’ve won four times in regulation and have the NHL’s worst goal differential (minus-27). The Calgary Flames are four points out of second place in the Pacific Division.
5. The Edmonton Oilers are the Edmonton Oilers. The Edmonton Oilers are four points out of second place in the Pacific Division.

The NFL - 6 seconds of action, 24 seconds of sitting around. Lame.

Done. People in the know don't love the deal, don't hate it. But there's a fourth player not named yet. |

They squeezed a 4th player out of it?
so what, the 2/3 starter, the #5 starter, a minor league arm and what else? |

Supposedly a pitcher. You left out the athletic youngoutfielder who just hit 24 hr and 87 Rbi and stole 30+ bases in his first full season after being selected first round a couple years back. Seems his d is suspect, but Astros fans seem to really like him. Derek Fischer is his name. |

The people who seem to follow the minors like the trade. It was probably the right time to move Giles IMO. His value would never be higher than right now. The guy Valesquez would slide into the Phillies top 5 prospects. Possibly top 3. They have a very good farm system. By 2017, they will have a ton of young talent and more money than god. |
