The people who seem to follow the minors like the trade. It was probably the right time to move Giles IMO. His value would never be higher than right now. The guy Valesquez would slide into the Phillies top 5 prospects. Possibly top 3. They have a very good farm system. By 2017, they will have a ton of young talent and more money than god.

Ive been reading through The Good Phight and people seem to like the deal even if they're not over the moon. No one seems to dislike it. I am fine with Giles being moved. I am legit excited about Phillies in 2-3 years.

Sixers though. What's going on has be a little scared. And I don't even have much invested in them as a fan. What a strange series of events have transpired since the summer regarding those two teams and their futures.

Gotta love the rationale behind the deal

Closers are a luxury a bottom team does not need. It's a no brainer really. Cost controlled, young, already MLB proven.

The Sixers GM with "the plan" just got unseated by a 76 yoa dinosaur ex league exec who only took the job if he could work from home in Arizona. Prob nothing to worry about

People saw what Atlanta got for Shelby Miller and thought the Phillies would make the same kind of deal. The Miller deal was more of a perfect timing, perfect player, dumb management type of deal. The Astros are a savvy organization. They aren't going to drastically overpay.

I thought people were more looking at the Kimbrel trade as comparable, maybe even better what with the cost control. I don't proclaim to name bupkis about the Astros prospects prior, but Fischer and VV seem solid center pieces. Who the fourth person is is killing me. Some rumor that it's a player we are familiar with. Whatever that means if true.

Kimbrel is the best closer in baseball though.

There is always risk in holding on to an asset like that though. He could throw his arm out or regress. He really can't get much better than last season.
