No way do I trade Mason unless the offer is great. Nuevy, yes. Sell high baby! We may have a franchise goalie and people want to ship him out. #philly

The flyers should have won that game 6-3... Once mason got pulled i knew we were in trouble. i dont know how we managed to get the game to a shootout but ill take it.

Btw can anyone explain to me why the flyers traded hartnel for rj umburger? Im not to familiar with why the deal went down

- Flexingtheshaft

Yes. You should know you are in trouble when the opposing team's #1 goalie gets pulled.

The deal gives them some "down the road" cap flexibility. Hartnell's deal runs 2 more years beyond Umberger's and it's speculated that Hartnell will be in a deep decline by then (given his role and how he plays, etc).

Also, it is speculated that then-coach Craig Berube was not a big Scott Hartnell fan, for whatever reason (likely, the same things that got him benched for a game in Columbus).

Also, I think the team felt that, since they had some familiarity with RJ, that he would be a useful middle 6 player. That has definitely not been the case, however.

The main, stated driver was cap flexibility, but the other things I mentioned play in a little, I think. If I missed anything, I'm sure someone will chime in.

It was a clear kicking motion. If it wasn't it wouldn't haved bounced into the net off his foot with the velocity it had after changing direction. The kick happened prior to any islander hitting Simmonds. It may not have been Simmonds intention, but that means nothing.
- Just5

It looked to me like he was doing that kick it to get it to where he could put it on the stick into the net and gave it too much. poop happens.

I've heard rumors of what Mason's personal issue is, and I think it's still on his mind and contributing to his inconsistent play. The rumor I heard isn't some kind of scandalous thing, like drugs or anything, but I do think it's impacting him.

He sa good goalie, and eventually he's going to be back to his old self. If somebody blew me away, I'd listen, but I still think he rebounds and gets back to being a very good goalie.

seriously he's been solid the past couple years, is having a rough year but it's not bryzgalion. Let him work through it, there's a reason neuvirth has bounced around the league.

Basically the same reasoning behind getting vinny and amac... he was the missing link... who needs a winger that can put up almost 30 goals a season?!

"Ron, Vinny isn't breathing, do we want to resuscitate him?"
"Um....he's fine, just let him be."

And for those lamenting PEB's many chances to score last night, ponder this: 101 NHL games, 9 goals. He's a very good 4th liner/pk guy, thats it. Expecting any more and you're just setting yourself up to be disappointed.
