I guess there's merit to the usage of "ethnic" in the sense that his upbringing would've shaped him, but it still assumes he's using it as a means to demean a group of people based off of cultural or physical grounds. Use of it (at least academically correct use) would likely require you, Alex_Oil, and Double-D to be of an ethnic, physically, or culturally similar background with enough differentiation from his own. But debating this doesn't get me anything so I'll leave it as disagreeing on your usage of the word and it's somewhat vague definition.

On the note of "egocentric", I don't bring it up cause its irrelevant to our topic of discussion. I don't agree with your contention, but that's an opinion on a person so there's no sense trying to change your mind. Only he can do that. Besides, everyone's "egocentric" to a degree.

No that is you that is assuming that it means he is demeaning a group. It is simply being used and meant as he is currently lacking the ability to see that the way he is viewing something (which is a product of experiences, nature/nurture, culture etc) is the right way, and that the way others view things is wrong, especially on a topic like Hockey, where it really is all opinion.

And the original post you were replying to, I used those two words, ego and ethnocentric. Hence since you did not dispute the former, then you must agree it is correct.

Actually I haven't mentioned the TLB stuff for a while, and that comes and goes in spurts. I also never brought this argument up either. I simply made a humorous comment after the game last night, and someone read it and got very upset about it today. You do realize no one is forced to respond to anything here, and those that chose to do so are just as guilty for engaging, as those that bait them into doing so.
