I'm guessing Jordie Benn is just a pipedream of yours? The guy is 24 and developing into pretty premier passing/rugged d-men, maybe a top 4 guy next year for Dallas. Stars have the cap space to give him a substantial raise (sbisa money!). I just don't see it. - neem55
He is my this year's Sutter project. I am only hoping on the home boy influence , but I know chances are slim. I will still beat the drum until he is signed |

That's fair, and don't get me wrong I would love for it to happen. |

Come on Vantel... seriously. - Codes1087
Seriously what?
Fans on here are much higher on Shink than JB or WD are.
He was part of the trade rumour for Reinhart.
After being the top goal getter for Comets and AHL , WD gives him a 10 minute tryout on the fourth line.
JB in his 1040 interview " He's coming along fine. There are things he needs to work on . We will see how he is doing"
None of this spells out Big Plans to me |

I have to agree with Vantel if the Canucks could land Lucic and BYF in the off season it would be a huge improvement and a stop gap while younger players get better. |

We aren't in a position to compete for a Stanley Cup because we can't let go of players like Burrows Lack Higgins Garrison .
This is something they can fix this year. Vrbata Higgins Burrows Hamhuis and probably Hansen and Edler should have been moved by now.
Obtaining Byf LUcic this year could have a big impact. Let's hope next year looks closer to this
Sedin Sedin Sutter
LUcic McCann JV
Gaunce Bo Grenier
Prust ? Dorsett
Edler Byfuglien
Hutton Tanev
Sbisa Benn
Biega Tremkin
Miller
Marky. - VANTEL
no Vantel, we aren't in a position to compete because we've drafted four (frank)in players in the past ten years who've actually played regularly in the NHL. Excluding the past two drafts.
Those guys and their contracts are hard to move, the returns are minimal at best, that said, I want them gone as much as you. Benning didn't sign those deals though, Gillis did. |

Off-season yes, love it. But give up assets, no way, we have very few. |

They would have to move said 'younger players' to get them. |

Look at 90% of the Red Wings prospects that have come into the League. Nyquist, Tatar, Pulkkinen.. All of whom got a few games in the show following their draft year or the year after, played a few games and then was sent back to the AHL for development. Shinkaruk plays one game on the fourth line (where Horvat spent his entire rookie season) and you are writing him off as someone who you don't see having any impact in the future for the club.. |

WPG has always been high on Hansen. If Buff comes here Hansen will most likely be gone. - LordHumungous
I'm not as high on buff as most are but you aren't getting him unless you give up at least one if not two more valuable pieces than Hansen |

I said put Higgins on waivers last summer ang got laughed at . You don't just throw away a player. Yet game to game I see comments on here get rid of Higgins no matter what it takes. I even seen one post say Higgins and a 6 th for A 7 th rounder.
In 16 games CH has 2 goals and 1 assist. I know some on here don't want to let go of this Dynamo because of his shoot out ability but God Damn Gaunce is more aggressive , has 1 goal in one game and cost about a third of his cap hit.
I honestly don't know why fans can't let go of these relics |

I truly don't understand this theory. - Marwood
Like the Sedins said in the off season when they were interviewed. At the end of the contract the team is not competitive to make the playoffs they would waive to play somewhere else. This would help the team in the long run by giving them young assets. I feel Hammer would be the same way. He knows he is done, he loves playing for the Canucks. Why not let them trade him for a few months so they can get younger assets that help them in the future because he can no longer help them now. |

We aren't the Red Wings. Those players didn't get a chance because of names like Datsyuk Fransen Zetterberg were blocking them , not Higgins Hansen and Burrows as a top 6 |

I have not heard one person on the Canucks thread wishing to EVER retain Higgins. The problem is he has ZERO value right now. He is not worth his cap hit. He will be a player, that at the end of his contract, will sign PTO with clubs to preserve his playing career. Nobody wants him, we are unfortunately stuck with him. |

This has nothing to do the players in the way right now. This has to do with development. Benning would not have signed Cracknell, traded for Prust (instead of just acquiring a pick for Kassian) if he believed in rushing prospects into the game instead of developing. Green has said that Gaunce has had a turnaround season and is developing into a gritty 200 foot player. Shinkaruk has had an amazing turnaround in his second season as a Pro. The red wings don't not bring up players due to lack of space or depth, they willingly choose not to bring up players for their development. |

I could see a team in need of vets such as Ottawa, Florida or NYI wanting him come tdl. He's got a lot of playoff experience and plays sound d. Maybe a 4th or 5th I'd say. |

Trust me I took heat in the Summer for suggesting to put Higgins on waivers and hoping someone picked him up. Comments like you just don't give away a player for nothing, or he is a serviceable third liner.
There were more than a few people suggesting how dumb of an idea that was , yet here we are. |

First I've heard of this.
Also, this is a multi-million dollar business, I don't believe there is the loyalty to franchises like some people believe. The players are commodities and have been payed well for their services. |

I think Gaunce will be on the team next year and should have been on it this year.
I would wager Shink won't be on the starting line up next year.
Daniel had first line left winger tied down for the next two years after this year, and I bet they trade or sign UFA for next year's second line Left winger |
