Los Angeles won the Cup because they drafted well and when the time was right they had good assets to trade and get them over the hump. Kopitar was 25, Doughty was 22, Quick was 25 when LA traded 5th overall B. Schenn, Wayne Simmonds, 3rd overall Jack Johnson and their first round pick for Carter and Richards.
Our best players are 35 years old, not between the ages of 22 and 26, trading what little assets we have to get us over the hump puts the organization right back to square one. Apples and oranges scenario. - LeftCoaster
They traded for Willie and Regher who made them solid on the back end. They had Kopitar and DD who they drafted but they also needed to make themselves a team through trades |

we are talking about difference eras here. It is like comparing Gretzky to Lemieux. In the past there was no PVR. if you wanted to watch a show you had to watch it live. Hence the high ratings. Nowadays with PVR and internet most people don't even have cable and for a show like TBBT to still have high ratings it is comparable to the Seinfeld's and MASH's.
Also different is the type of humor. Seinfeld was more current affairs and blue collar. TBBT is more nerdy and has a lot of DC, Marvel and Starwars references. If you are not into that then you will not get most of the jokes.
So the comment of who is better? Lemieux or Gretzky can never be answered since they both played in different eras. - Linden_4_Capt
Wayne is four years older than Lemieux, pretty sure they played in the same era. I think it has more to do with the writers that it does the subject matter. I find TBBT more pedantic than clever, Sienfeld is in another league with regards to writing/humor. TBBT is popular because comics/nerdiness is popular, Sienfeld did its own thing and never relied on pop culture but great writing and actors (minus Jerry, of course). Friends in more popular than both, does that mean it's well written? No, I think not. More like the type of humor appeals to more people because it appeals to pop culture TBBT=Friends |

Quick, Brown, Kopi, Doughty. All first rounders, all core pieces. I will grant you that the Carter/Gabbo moves were amazing fits, but that team comes down to its drafted core. #DMANFIRSTROUND |

Over valuing our players I think. The only assets the Canucks have are Horvat, McCann, Virtanen and the other young guns. Backwards move to trade them for Byf. - Marwood
Byf's an unsigned player, if he was under contract than different story. I think it would take Maybe Hansen/Bart+pick to make it work, but Hansen is a respected guy around the league and still clearly has gas in the tank. |

Yup agreed - however, the Canucks aren't in a position to compete for the Stanley Cup, they were. When the Kings won their first Cup these were the ages of their core group.
Kopitar - 25 drafted
Quick - 25 drafted
Brown - 26 drafted
Doughty - 22 drafted
Carter - 26
Richards - 26
Those guys led the playoffs in scoring for them and Quick won the Conn Smythe I believe. |

No thanks. Not at the expense of youth. - Marwood
They are secondary young players.
First off I am enjoying this discussion and hope you are not getting bothered by it.
Hansen Role player
Grenier maybe a fringe player?
2 nd is a 2nd
I would never consider offering Jets a top prospect for a rental. The only reason I am entertaining this is because LA are in the mix otherwise I would wait until the end of the season and waste nothing but money. Kings would be a much more attractive team to play for over the Canucks. The only way we can get Byf is by spending a lot of money. We should have more free space than LA this summer.
Byfuglien could make the difference between a long rebuild or a quick one. We have two top 10 scorers in the league , LA doesn't our young prospects are as good as theirs. He is the BPA this year for D. Canucks should make a very serious attempt to get him.
People laughed at Sutter and LUcic on the Canucks. We got one and are a much better team with BS in the lineup. LA got Luc and are now in first place. You have to take advantage of these scenarios when they are presented and stop worrying about guys like Hansen and Grenier. Impact players are way more important than role players or fringe players |

Fine if you are looking to make noise in the playoffs. The best thing for this team, IMHO, is to miss the playoffs this season and perhaps next. They need to continue drafting & developing not being a perennial 1st round exit team. |

I do like Byf, he's, massive and mean I think would pair well wit heither Tnave or Edler (probably Edler) going forward. I'm guessing what you're referring to here is some kind of situation where management has already got a contract agreement in place before the trade? I really don't want to give up a second this year, but in this case it might be worth it. |

I agree. My big thing preaching here, is looking back on the 2008-2012 first round d-men now playing in the show for their respective teams (hint: there is a lot) |

If Shink was such a hot commodity why is he not already playing on a team that needs secondary scoring? - VANTEL
Strength issues. It will come. Too risky to move Shink right now with his potential. They will give him some time to bulk up I hope. |

We aren't in a position to compete for a Stanley Cup because we can't let go of players like Burrows Lack Higgins Garrison .
This is something they can fix this year. Vrbata Higgins Burrows Hamhuis and probably Hansen and Edler should have been moved by now.
Obtaining Byf LUcic this year could have a big impact. Let's hope next year looks closer to this
Sedin Sedin Sutter
LUcic McCann JV
Gaunce Bo Grenier
Prust ? Dorsett
Edler Byfuglien
Hutton Tanev
Sbisa Benn
Biega Tremkin

I agree too . Get a high draft pick.
I am just saying getting Byf would be a huge step and Canucks should do as much as they can to make sure he is on NEXT YEARS roster |

WPG has always been high on Hansen. If Buff comes here Hansen will most likely be gone. |

I'm guessing Jordie Benn is just a pipedream of yours? The guy is 24 and developing into pretty premier passing/rugged d-men, maybe a top 4 guy next year for Dallas. Stars have the cap space to give him a substantial raise (sbisa money!). I just don't see it. |
