We're closer than all you bridge jumpers are giving us credit. - Der Kaiser
Why apply a tag to people that don't agree with you?
I can assure you, none of us are "jumping off any bridges" even as frustrated as some of us appear.
Let me ask you, are you a Bills fans? |

not jumping the bridge, giving my opinion on our gm who has left the team next to no wiggle room to make moves for the next few years w/o destroying the farm
2 d men are needed, long term solutions
2 wingers are needed
big question in net
and rochester is a mess - homiedclown
Unless you're an amerks season ticket holder i don't know why this would be a big deal.
I think this years draft can help tackle some of the bigger problems, whether it's a top line player or top 2 d-man. He'll have to get creative with the rest, but this is the case with most teams.
Tampa's done a good job with their drafting/developing, and even they dipped into to the FA market to fill a top 6/top 2 need. Chicago the same with Hossa and Campbell. At some point in the rebuild you reach a stage where you need to get creative either in FA or trades to take that next step. |

I would prefer eichel to play lw, if he could
eichel/ror/ennis
kane/girgens/skunk - homiedclown
Honestly, I don't even know if he's RH or LH, I just put him on the RW because we're a bit more solid at LW, so I'm game for suggestions there too |

That's the measurement of what we gave up.
I told you that you aren't properly measuring the return.
Maybe its time to reed more. - Der Kaiser
the return is a fringe all star player (ror)
an injured under performing d man
an injured infrequent goal scorer (kane)
a bubble boy in net
all murray guys
4 guys for 7 first rd picks, 2 picks at 31 overall and 35 overall |

Guys (and Ladies)
Please give these players/staff some time to turn this program around. I have seen many great signs through-out the first 2 months, but there will be peeks & valleys this year because of their age:
55
28
15
23
29
3
(9 & 90 are both 24 yrs old)
These players are very young with loads of skill. Once players like 26/12 are replaced and the goaltender situation is stable, things will continue to improve. Rome wasn't built over night. Deep breath everyone!

the team losses kane, eichel, risto and bogo in the next 2 weeks for long term injury
there is no player down there that can play on a top 2 line or be an 18 minute eater on the blueline

No. I don't even watch much football. When I do, I watch the Bills because they're here geographically and its whats on.
When I lived in other cities I watched and rooted for other teams (Bengals, Giants). Still follow both. |

Break this down though
2 d-men needed.
-they still needed a #1 type anyways, so Zadorov wasn't a "huge" loss since 3-5 guys are easier to get
2 wingers needed - no good ones were traded away, so no loss
goal - again, no moves made that made that position worse, and potentially a move that made it much better than it was - stashu
if the trades were not made, the only big loss from the current roster is ror
thats a lot to give up with only 1 difference maker coming back |

perfect world, mccabe would be in rochester 1 more year, ready to step into a top 4 spot on emergency
maybe gringo or armia, they have top 6 skill up front
my issue is murray gave up a lot for his guys, and aside from ror the team has the same result as last year
we have heard patience for decades as buffalo sport fans, at some point that becomes a monster horse pill to swallow

I agree with the reasoning for making the moves, but besides the O'Reilly one, I question whether they were the right ones.
What worries me is if we do finish bottom 5, Murray feels pressure and makes moves based on fear of his job - sbroads24
whaley tried to find an elite qb- of which there are only maybe 8 of in the world, and when he didnt he doubled down on every other position to make the qb look better. its probably not enough, especially when you go 0-2 to brady every year. eichel, and to a lesser extent ror and reinhart, give us a chance to have an elite player at the center position- which is probably the closest comparable to qb. which to me says, murray will be working on complimentary parts. finding andrew luck a wide receiver is worlds easier than finding andrew luck. |

Then you can't truly understand the totality of us true Buffalonian born and raised frustrations when it comes to the ineptness of the General Managers that sell hope every year to our Buffalo born fan base.
In other words, we aren't "jumping any bridges" as you claim,
we are simply and understandably frustrated.
Over 45 years as a local sports enthusiast and the Cleveland Indians as well,

my issue with whaley was not qb,
the d had no depth, the o line was a mess
IMO that will still be the needs this offseason, and throw a wr in the mix now with the harvin chaos

You're expectations of what's on anyone's farm are skewed. When teams recall players they never expect the guy they call up to fill the exact role of the guy that went down unless it just so happens to be a 4th liner or last pair Dman.
You bump someone from your NHL roster up on the depth chart and slide the AHL player into a bottom line or pair role, at least initially.
IF the guy comes in and blows the doors off, you work him into a higher spot in the roster.
Come on... you know better than this.... |

36 to 25....that's the number of points the 4 NHL players that were traded away in 2 big trades have for their teams.
4 players gone in Zadorov, Myers, Stafford, and Grigorenko have 36 combined points (Stafford the "best" player with 16 points.
O'Reilly has 25
Add Kane's 10 points and it's 36 to 35 in 94 to 48 man games played (Players gone to players in Buffalo, respectively)
So in basically twice the number of games played, those 4 players gone have scored 1 more point than the two that are here. But wait...add McGinn and it's 36-48 for points and 94-77 in games played
Factor in the goaltending/goals allowed being equal (all 3 teams very close in GA) and I think the Sabres have made out so far. |

Again though, if there were no immediate expectations, then in a year or two you could have had a plethora of players ready to step up.
Who knows, I'm done dwelling on what we gave up, I'm just not going to be too patient with guys like Kane, Bogo, and Lehner. We didn't trade multiple 1sts, players and prospects for guys we needed to be patient with.

True story: my daughter just had pretty significant surgery. My wife moans and cries and stresses out because she's not better yet.
I watch with a careful and concerned eye, but I measure my daughter's health today as against her health yesterday. Even after the surgery, my daughter is healthier than 70% of her age group.
Who do you think is happier/having more fun, me or my wife?? |

And you and more people would be pissing and moaning even more than now when this team actually has talent that doesn't need to wait another 5 years to develop!
My "patient" is giving them this year to learn the system, their teammates, etc. Yours is another 5+ year plan of developing draft picks who may be poop |
