LOL, it was more than a couple of bad plays, but the entire team got shellacked last night. I wouldn't expect a rookie defenseman, who's played a handful of games to be any different. So, no it has nothing to do with waiting for a handful of shifts. Gostisbehere has had some issues in his own end since he's been up, but that's not unexpected. The good however far outweighs the bad. Gostisbehere has been pretty much what I expected. NHL caliber in skating, with the puck, and on the PP, but has some development to still do defensively. I think he's further along defensively than I thought he would be, but it looks like he is capable of handling developing that side of his game at the NHL level. He's a good player now, who is only going to get better. - MJL

Yeah enough already. You don't waste elite talent buried on a line with role players. You just don't.
Put Jake on the right side with Coots/Read and drop Simmonds down to the 3rd unit. Simmonds leading the team with -13 +/1. Simmonds also gets 1st PP unit time. - Pixote Andolini
Or at least Simmonds with Giroux, and Jake, with Coots.

Failing to score on a 2-1 then getting pushed off the puck for follow up scoring chance on the empty net. |

1 goal in 30 games for Voracek is completely ridiculous.
I look forward to seeing a list compiled of the elite forwards in the NHL that have scored 1 goal this year while playing in all their teams games. - PLindbergh31
it's just another example in a long (frank)ing list of bullpoop that follows this franchise around like a black cloud. |

Yes it did win that one game. How many games could we have used a goal from one of our "elite" players to provide those extras points. Jake has simply not done the job IMO. I hope he comes out of it, but 30 games and 1 goal... Not good at all - 3flyerkids
at this point last year jake had 10 goals. you have to believe if his production was the same this year the flyers have at least 3 more wins under their belt. maybe a little more. this lack of scoring is a big problem...it's not being covered by har...cough..umberger...or anybody else for that (frank)ing matter. they're at the bottom of the goddamn league in scoring. he's a big reason why. |

And let's face it, a goal during the breakaway-fest known as 3v3 hockey has a great big asterisk next to it. - wolfhounds

Yeah he's sort of given up. He's mostly perimeter - even showing a bit of skittishness in the corners and along the wall when he used to reign supreme. His hunger has died down a bit coasting along now that he's been demoted to the 3rd unit.
Last season he basically carried the Flyers on his back for over a month scoring and dominating on a nightly basis against opponents top defensive lines. Whatever the coach is doing with Voracek on the 3rd unit, it hasn't worked. The Flyers are still the 2nd worst goal-scoring team in the league. |

yes, i do. i like mason. i'm not worried that his struggles will snowball and he'll slide like in columbus. he's been ok, and had some bad luck this season. a team needs two solid goalies.
imagine this tandem in 2009-10. cup victory. |

Absolutely hold on to both. Mason has shown the ability to be a top goalie in this league. He can rebound. Neuvirth is really having a whale of a season. |
