Last years team wasn't as dangerous as 2013 or 2010. Fans on this board reminded me of that all year long. Guess what we still did?
- SimpleJack

I remember when 2013's team wasn't tough enough to handle playoff hockey according to some.

In 2015 they were too uneven and not deep enough on defense. They made do. It'll always be something.

JJ or anyone else who cares to answer , of all the Hawks who had to be sent packing because of the salery cap issue's which one player do you think would give the Hawks the best chance to repeat this year. Buff, Ladd, Leddy, Sharp, Saad, Brower ect

I get it. Technically we are on the bubble right now in the standings.

Now refer to my A and my B from that previous post.

In the grand scheme of thing its a joke to call the Blackhawks a bubble team. It really is. Its insulting, in fact. They deserve more praise than that from their fans. The chances of this team missing the playoffs with a relatively healthy roster and getting beat out by the likes of the Jets/Sharks/whoever for that 8th spot is very unlikely, when you factor in my A and my B.

You take things a bit personally. And I guess a lot of people on this thread are being insulting then.

How about letting it go? Or are you here for the opposite purpose?

So.....now that we've basically all come to agree that the Jets dont stand a chance in the grand scheme of things....can we PLEASE also put to rest the notion the the Hawks are a bubble team? Im just sick of seeing people throw that word around.

The Pacific is garbage aside from the Kings. No way they get more than 3 teams. 5 teams will come out of the central, again.....so someone PLEASE tell me how we wont inevitably be one of those 5 teams?? We're already in a pretty good spot and we've yet to play our best hockey, not even close. We own an advantage over all those other teams(MIN, NSH, STL, WIN, DAL) in the majority of the facets of the game, eye test or on paper. Our insane amount of experience and know how is just a bonus.

We stay healthy we WILL make the playoffs. Only question is what seed.

This isn't close to being a bubble team and wont be any time soon.

- SimpleJack

16-14.

Only 11 regulation wins in 30 games - 9 were tied after regulation.

Haven't shown the consistency necessary for a good run, or to win on the road.

This is a .500 team, based on what I've seen so far.

They have 8 reasonably winnable games coming up against bubble teams or worse before New Years, plus one at Dallas: let's see if they can win 7 or 8 the rest of the year.

I wouldn't call him brilliant.

He's had a few amazing games, but also a few where he lets in softies. Inconsistent but better of late. When it matters though i believe our goaltending will be very solid as usually, starting with CC.

Overall we're 8th in 5v5 CF%, so its not like we're getting dominated as far as shots/chances go and our goaltending is bailing us out and creating a misleading record.

Doesnt that make the Hawks a bubble team ?

Nothing makes us bubble team. That is a fabrication by the ever so worrisome fan base here on HB. Wake up people.

Im off to work.

Well last year I was very loud about
no one beats that hawks team in a 7 game series. The only problem I had with last years team was Q playing Versteeg over real NHL players

I'm outa here for a while.

It is fine to have a negative view of this year's team, and it is fine to have a very positive view. No one is being insulting by doing either.

Disagreements are allowed. Those backed by facts are encouraged.

There is a theme being repeated here that anyone who is negative about this team is an bumhole and a hypocrite. Same theme as on the last thread. Same people spewing it.

Funny how saying that makes you pretty much no better than what you're calling others.

I will personally ask for long bans on ANYONE who takes this further. I know the usual suspects say I ask for them all the time. i don't. And i don't care what you think about that. But this time, I definitely will.

Aside from that, enjoy the banter. If you can't, go back to your own board.

3 points from being out of the playoffs, more games played than any other team that's in except Vancouver. Feels a little bubbly. Sorry.
- John Jaeckel

Actually, I think, it's a 6 point cushion: they're 6 ahead of Winipeg (6th in the division) and 7 ahead of Arizona (4th in the Pacific).

Sage, I meant in terms of being BEHIND the 2nd wild card, which I believe is three points and out of the playoffs, correct?

Ladd would fit perfectly.

Would you give up a #1 Dano and __________ for a Ladd rental ?

- mrpaulish

Hmm think I might, maybe we could get them to throw in a prospect

They're two pointts ahead of MN who has THREE games in hand. Right now at least, the Hawks are in, but on the bubble. It's not really debatable. Nor is it meant as an insult. It is what it is.

I don't know. Bickell hurts the value of that package more than he helps it because of his salary/skill equation at this point. So no, I don't think so.
- John Jaeckel

The only thing about that is that Winipeg has the cap space to absorb him, and he would have to go if the Hawks were to take on Ladd's $4+MM hit.

Doesn't matter if the Wild catch them - they would have the 2nd Wild Card in 5th place as long as they beat Winipeg (+6) and Arizona (+7).

I think.

Oh the man has freakish size to go with his skill. He would need to drop weight if he were to play on the wing again. That 2010 Cup Team had some nasty to it. Buff, Ladd, Brouwer, Kopecky, Eager, Burish, Madden... Geezus

I will say this.. If Ladd is somehow available at the dead line, Stan really needs to make a play. Ladd checks alot of boxes for the Hawks and would really open the ice up for 19 and 81...

Ladd 19 81
72 15 88

Guess Ladd could wear 61 since Kruger has 16... who cares Ill take it.

- z1990z

LADD in a heartbeat and tell Kruger, pick another one kid!

JJ...I remain firmly in the bubble camp.

As always Jack, luv your optimism...just don't share it. But I certainly hope the Hawks prove me wrong.

Well I've been told that sometimes I seem brainless . I was going to not include Saad thinking it was too obvious a choice.
