Kid's only seen 17 games in Utica...they'll look at him longer. - LordHumungous
yeah, I'd like to see him develop for this year in the A and see where he is in the summer. Why bother replacing Sutter short term if the team doing well this year isn't a priority. |

@paislanderr official release "as the rep for all media and #1040experts, we concede bo horvat is not ready to be a second line centre"
I'd like to see Burrows McCann Vrbata as the second line.
Baertschi Horvat Prust
Higgins Cracknell Dorsett
something like that anyway for a look.
and Pedan get a shot on defense before we trade for a bottom pairing dman. - hillbillydeluxe
Horvat trying to carry Baertchi and Virtanen has been killing him. Virtanen gone for a bit will help Horvat. Horvat needs players to make space for him and that means Hansen.
Burrows needs to get going so:
Sedin Sedin Burrows
Baertchi McCann Vrbata
Higgins Horvat Hansen
Prust Cracknell Dorsett.
Baertchi is the worry on the 2nd. Gaunce or even Jensen might produce better there.
Horvat just needs his minutes managed with a little less responsibility and he will get back in the groove. Hansen can create space for Horvat and Higgins can get him the puck.

I think you guys are undervaluing B.Schenn, as much as I would love to see this deal go down it's Vrbata and a pick for schenn, not the other way around IMO. - neem55
It's Luke not Brayden I believe. |

Those lines would be worth a look too. But either way, we need secondary scoring.
Who do we put on that second line to get the pucks in the corner and go to the front of the net? I think I suggested the same second line at one point, but I don't know who is going to the net or standing in front of the net with that second line.
Whatever line Burrows is on, if he isn't scoring, I'd like to see him hitting a little more. that goes for just about everyone on the team.

Shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic - VANTEL
as long as we can make it look like the deck of the Enterprise, it just might be a distraction from the fact we are not doing that well. |

right you are, I really would prefer Brayden. Love that style of player and he can play wing if he needs to. |

Honestly, I haven't watched Subban play at all. But I am just a believer in developing guys in the A until they have more value. |

I'd like him too, I think he's played wing most of his NHL career. (Brayden) |

I don't have anything bad to say about Subban.
I do think 5' 9 Freisen is the best player for the 4 th line centre and he is not here. Let's see how they feel about a 5'9 Dman |

Easier to get offense outta Subban in specialized roles than a 4C
Nothing wrong with Friesen but needs a chance as a 2-3C if an injury |

No clue. He's D n Friesen suggested as a 4C.

Cracknell as 4th line centre hasn't been the issue, maybe wish he was a little more physical, he, Prust and Dorsett all had 1 hit each. Was surprised Horvat had 4 hits and Bartkowski had 6. Burrows had 3, never noticed them.
Want to see McCann on the pp over Horvat. Horvat is fine on the pk. and don't want to see Higgins on the pp either. but I guess that goes to show our lack of depth.
With all that being said, I wouldn't mind Friesen getting a call up, doesn't necessarily have to play centre, he could play wing too. |

Friesen is a career AHL'er, he's not big enough or physical enough to play as a fourth line center. Gotta be able to grind a bit and win some puck battles down low to make up for the lack of offensive talent. |

you are prolly right, if he did get a call up, it would likely be as Vantel mentioned, just rearranging deck chairs. But I still don't mind seeing guys get called up from the ahl if they are working hard and playing well. Friesen had a good game tonight for the Comets.
and if WD thinks a player or two isn't giving it their all, he should put in guys that will work hard, even if the results are expected to be the same.
but tonight, we just got beat by a better team. |

Burrows get one last tour with the Sedins to get going.
But also it's time for Burrows to move on. Tough one for JB.
The Weber experiment needs to end and if we can pry L Schenn out of PHI waht else would it take to get B Schenn to be a part of that deal as well? We need secondary scoring as bad as we need tough D like Tinordi/Schenn so maybe Weber/Burrows/Higgins + could get L Schenn/B Schenn/+ here... - LordHumungous
id like to see both here sure. + tinordi from habs too
I like burrows and see us missing him if he got moved....BUT 4.5M is a bit much for how he's being utilized....but I agree that he needs better opportunity to excel again here than he's getting. |

More teams would take on a rental for an old player over a player who is 35 years old and a year and a half left.
Burrows 0 points in last 8 games I think. - VANTEL
some players value is more in the playoffs. Burrows is that player.
he scores clutch goals in key situations....2011 cup run would never have happened without burrows OT goal vs hawks in game 7....or the OT winner in game 2 of the final.
tim hunter was a player quinn acquired in 94...he was awful all season and I questioned why quinn got him....then playoffs hit and he was pretty awesome....made so much sense why he was brought in....he was almighty king kong in the final.
you dont move THOSE players you keep them |

I see JB turning the page on many vets prolly.
Hard to say who he replaces them with in either trades or UFA's.
The more salary he can trade or dump or buyout the better.
Gonna be a few lean years coming up i figure.
Draft n develop is the answer.
We r long in the tooth n the window is closed for now. |

Burrows use to score clutch goals. He use to score 20 plus goals a year. He use to be a top agitator.
Right now he is just being a good team mate and trying to do whatever is asked of him, but his good days are long gone now.
Because our division s embarrassingly weak I will put the playoff bar at 90 pts this year. For us to do that we need 60 pts in 51 games. We probably wont see the playoffs |
