I as looking at some numbers and for us to get SChenn something has to give. Right now Canucks have 2.2 in cap space and Schenns salary is 3.6. Pedan and his 800k would go back to Utica or be part of the trade . We still have 600 K to clear. We could send Kenins back and problem solved , or we would need to trade a roster player.
I believe Canucks have a genuine interest in Schenn and something will happen before we play them Thursday.
Hamhuis is scheduled at least 8 weeks. TDL is in 10. I believe there will be complications and Hamhuis wont be ready for a least 10 weeks
What do Flyers want back in return? They would say Horvat and a first rounder but we know that will never happen.
The roster player would be Higgins or Baertschi. We are too thin on D to swap D.
There would probably be a B prospect or a third rounder. Truthfully I would prefer giving up a B prospect over a pick - VANTEL
They could just switch jerseys and change rooms on Thurs. easy.

Imagine we did the trades/UFA signings for
Edler-Tanev
Hutton-Gudbrandson
Tryamkin-L. Schenn(or someone like this)
Not the greatest D in the world, but top 4 is good and bottom 2 are punishing. |

Gudbrandson was drafted 3rd overall and hasn't done much in FLA albeit on pretty bad clubs up until now...remind me why we want him here? |

Punishing Defensively and giving almost nothing offensively.
Hutton provides a good spark to offense. Edler the same. The rest are pretty much all stay at home defensive defenseman and then garbage (schenn) |

Subban could face similar problems - VANTEL
Yes he could be a special teams guy, kinda like Torey Krug with Boston. Or he could be Yannick Weber? |

You might want to consider his feelings before you start labeling him. |

Watched a highlight package of Subbans goals from Junior and he definitely likes to jump up in the rush and even go as low as the faceoff dot in the offensive zone. Stuff that I think kids can get away with in Junior but scares the crap out of me at the Pro level. Weber does the same thing. The difference between Weber and Krug is that Krug actually dictates the play in the offensive zone from just inside the Blue line and jumps up in the rush when he knows he has a forward to cover him. Weber.. well he just jumps up in the rush anyways. |

Schenn isn't the be all end all. Tryamkin is showing some offense in KHL, but if he developes well here we could see Subban with Tryamkin(would more then make up for size issues) |

Could be better with a better partner, plus he isn't a bad 4th dman with upside. i see Edler as a #2 and Tanev/Hutton as #3 right now. We aren't getting a #1 unless we draft him or OS one and take one that way(Reilly) |

I think Schenn would be a good fit . Your bottom pairing would be Schenn Sbisa . Gritty ,high risk ,high reward.
Sbisa is signed for two more years so we can't pretend he won't play. Truthfully he deserves the chance.
Tyamkin has a 50/50 chance of coming here . I don't want to pencil him in unless he is here and makes the team.
Edler Hutton Tanev and Sbisa aren't going anywhere so we need to find 3 guys and like I have said before JB likes Bartowski |

Don't understand the Subban negativity.
Kid is probably one of the best pure skaters we have in the organization.
Is our memory really this short?
Anyone remember him in the rookies comp?
Effectively shutting down McDavid, neutralizing guys twice his size and surprisingly laying out some pretty sweet hip-checks.
Yes, move him for a # 7-8 UFA bust before we even know what we have on our hands.
Weber for Schenn, nothing more.
One piece of garbage for another.

Talent Analysis
Boeser has great puck skills, an accurate shot and a very quick release. He is an excellent passer as well. Like most young, offensively oriented forwards, he needs to work on the defensive aspects of his game. He will need to bulk up to be able to dominate at the NCAA level.
He already is. |

We debated on these boards two years ago about Sbisa , how he was garbage. Some flipped out and still haven't returned since then. Sbisa was by far better than the person Ryan Stanton who previously occupied the job
Last year we had the Brandon Sutter debates/saga. Once again heated debates that he wasn't enough of an upgrade over Nick Bonino for the difference of salary. Now everyone calling the teams lack of success because we miss Sutter
Here we go now with Yanick Weber being a better option than Luke Schenn. I don't know in what universe that would be true , but where was Weber last year in the playoffs when things got heated? Where was he this year against the Ducks when it got greasy ? Schenn would be a big improvement over the player currently occupying the spot.
I can't begin to tell you how much Milan Lucic would be an upgrade over Chris Higgins.
Making improvements is like pulling teeth
We are five points out of last and two points out of the playoffs. If by some chance we made the playoffs , I would rather have Schenn and Lucic on my roster over Weber and Higgins |
