Rookies in that they are 1st year kids to make the Show? I would like to think that Gaunce/Grenier, regardless of their NHL experience to this point, would be more effective than what Higgins is bringing to the table each night. Shinkaruk to replace the hole left by Vrbata. I totally understand what you're saying and I am all for draft/developing but at this point, there is no lower than rock bottom. - Codes1087

Not anymore. Kassian is gone. Habs management all have penis in their asses. O Rielly can smash through Tim hortons and drive away. Sheenan can get caught driving super drunk on the wrong side of the road.
But Kassian gets exiled being drunk in the passenger seat.

The colours and the cracked out orca. I'm over 40 and only like the blue & green stick in rink. It seems those 30 or under like the black and orange sh1t . Also not a fan of the Johnny Canuck, too Main St. hipster. - Marwood
A young pup I see. The black and orange brings back visions of the Bure era and the "V" before not of drug usage. Also I won't mention the Giants shoulder patch..too hipster like? |

I think it is way to early for us to be projecting our prospects. We have seen flashes of decency and the rest has been development. Need to revisit in 4 years - VANTEL

That's the sad fact.
Personally, i do think the likes of Shink, Gaunce and perhaps even Subban could/would be more effective then Higgins, Burrows and certainly Weber.
But then again, if we are going to lose and have a garbage season regardless of who's in the line-up, which group would you rather have in?
Personally, I'd leave the old bums in as it won't effect their non-existent "development" curve.

The ass-hats on 1040 are leading the call to fire everyone and go all in for Ryan Johansen. |

Why not, outside all the firing Jo is a kid i wouldn't mind going all in for.
This summer (so we still suck this year), Bo or McCann, Markstrom, 2nd.
Secondary scoring fixed for years to come (with the Twins) plus hopefully a top 5 pick this draft.
Henrik, Jo, McCann/Bo, Sutter down the middle plus who ever we draft (#Matthews)

Fire everyone? Can't we for once hold the players responsible? F2ck me those guys are retards. We all knew this was coming. I don't hold management or coaching responsible. They can only do so much with what they have to work with. Anyone who thinks they were handed a full deck is fooling themselves. |

Edit: You can't blame Willie & Benning for both Nonis & Gillis trading away draft picks year after year after year. |

If they trade for him the only players left to play on his wings will be Higgins & Burrows. - Marwood

Here's the thing, how do you hold a bunch of players responsible for not being talented enough? They just aren't that good! Do you try and improve the skill-set of a 30+ year old player? Can you somehow make Higgins into something he's not? Can you make him into Jamie Benn?
You can't…when you have a team with diminishing skill-sets you have to coach the players you have. Which means, if you wanna win, coaching a defence first lockdown system. Our coaching staff isn't doing that, thankfully because it's awful to watch and it may improve our position in the standings. |

The team is without any quality players in the 24/25/26/27/28 year old range for two reasons, poor drafting and trying to compete for the Stanley Cup.
There's a large generational gap there, Ray Ferraro said yesterday, and I've heard him say it before, there's a bunch of players in the American League that are equal to players like Higgins and Burrows, or better.
The problem, as he stated, is Benning is saddled with those contracts from previous regimes and you can't just make them disappear. You have to wait it out or be creative, because, as he stated, if we can see how brutal they've become, it's pretty obvious other teams pro scouts are seeing the same things.

I agree. I want to see a fire sale at the deadline when prices are at their highest and continue to draft a develop. I hope Benning really starts focusing on the D core. The Sedins are still carrying the load and can hopefully do so for the next year or 2. With the amount of forward and goal tending prospects they are looking okay for the future there. The D is what concerns me the most going forward. |

For as long as i can remember, the organization has never drafted a quality number one defenseman, as in a Norris caliber guy. This is a huge issue for the club! |

Players like Higgins and Burrows are always in demand for playoff teams at the deadline. They can move up and down the line up, kill penalties and provide depth and experience. Even if the price is low, I think they can be moved to the right team. Dumping contracts and acquiring cap space would be a victory for Benning. |
