This the way to go. Get some tradition in there and get the Stupid Orca out of the centre ice circle and get the Stick/Rink logo in there.

Barkov - 2nd overall
Huberdeau - 3rd overall
Bjugstad - 19th overall
Gudbranson - 3rd overall
Ekblad - 1st overall

Horvat - 9th overall
Virtanen - 6th overall
McCann - 24th overall
Boeser - 23rd overall
Demko - 36th overall

Canucks are four years behind them with Bjugstad being drafted in 2010, but Benning has built a nice little cash of players to build with and the next couple years our picks should be better.

if demko pans out then that's a real game changer but you can't compare the two teams drafts when one is highly skilled NHL caliber players drafted at it near the top And the other is generally middle firsts that may take more time to develop ...

I think it is way to early for us to be projecting our prospects. We have seen flashes of decency and the rest has been development. Need to revisit in 4 years

You're wrong Vantel. Demko is winning the Vezina this year and Boesser the Calder.

Issues with the orca, colors, or both? The stick in the rink makes me think of the "hockey stick graph" and climate change. Johnny Canuck/lumber jack or the orca is more regionally appropriate IMHO...

WTF is wrong with Tortorella? Every team he takes a key player and just destroys them.

Blue Jackets' Ryan Johansen reportedly 'likely' to be a healthy scratch vs. the Coyotes. thesco.re/1OyncLT

Benning should trade Vrbata for a high first from someone, Montreal, and then swap that first with Horvat and say Shinkaruk for Ryan Johansen.

The colours and the cracked out orca. I'm over 40 and only like the blue & green stick in rink. It seems those 30 or under like the black and orange sh1t . Also not a fan of the Johnny Canuck, too Main St. hipster.

I too like the current colour's, and to be honest, I think the stick in the rink looks good on the sweater when they wear it.

That said, I like tradition, they've had the Haida-Style orca since 1997, that's 18 years of their 45 year existence. Just get rid of the stupid "Vancouver" over the crest and be done with it.

I like the stick in the rink. Nice and simple. And the colour scheme suits the city, also nice and simple. The colour scheme, not the city, which isn't really either.

The BJs wanted him bad enough to pay a second round pick for him. Well, they got him.

Trade Higgins for a 5th and retain half his salary. Bring up Grenier.
Trade Burrows for 2nd and retain half his salary and bring up Shinkaruk.
Trade Vrbata for a pick and bring up Gaunce.

I can't see them going with 7 or 8 rookies in the line up. No easy fix for a 5-6 year gap in drafting & developement.

Rookies in that they are 1st year kids to make the Show? I would like to think that Gaunce/Grenier, regardless of their NHL experience to this point, would be more effective than what Higgins is bringing to the table each night. Shinkaruk to replace the hole left by Vrbata. I totally understand what you're saying and I am all for draft/developing but at this point, there is no lower than rock bottom.
