It's usually not this bad. But yeah Spring usually lasts like 3 weeks. Our seasons are mostly just Mud, Construction, Mud again, and Winter.

the big issue isn't even that facebook is selling the data, because they're not. It's that they realized these apps were stealing people's data, and just didn't tell anybody about it.

All the data they collect on you lives in their advertising platform, and is what they use to get advertisers to buy ads on their site. They don't sell it, because then people wouldn't buy ads with them, they'd just buy the data at a flat rate, and run the ads elsewhere.

probably. Can't say I've ever read through.

From what I understand, Cambridge Analytica was more than the normal level of sketch about it. They pretended to be an academic study, which they weren't, and used a vulnerability in Facebook's old set up that allowed their app to access full friends lists. So basically, people who never installed the app were still being monitored, because a friend of theirs did.

Facebook fixed that problem years ago, and got CA to certify that they deleted all the data, but didn't tell anyone that the data had been mined. And of course, CA never deleted anything. Expect facebook to sue them shortly.
