Knowing them, tho... they'll be epicly terrible right in time for the next Next One to drop into their laps.

IMHO it would have to be a conditional 5th to get it done, tbh. - GudasNew
Conditional on how many hits Brayden Schenn can make without his skates going above 18 inches off of the ice. |

It brutal listening to him on radio when you're literally relying on his words to the understand what's going on.
The guy has one of the worst stutters in pro sports broadcasting. Every third sentence or so he struggles to complete a thought. That is just frigging brutal to listen to on radio.
That said he's a loveable dope. Like the neighbor on a 70s sitcom. - hereticpride

•Matt Larkin of The Hockey News: Larkin looks at five potential fits for Ryan Johansen, taking into consideration need and what they can offer in return for Johansen.
1.Philadelphia Flyers – would the Flyers trade Sean Couturier or one of Ivan Provorov and Shayne Gostisbehere? What about Brayden Schenn and one of Travis Sanheim or Samuel Morin?2.Nashville Predators – adding a No. 1 center would make the Predators a real Stanley Cup contender. The Predators would be crazy to move Seth Jones. What about Mattias Ekholm? Would Shea Weber’s name come up? If the Blue Jackets want a forward included in a package, the Predators could dangle Kevin Fiala or Colin Wilson.
3.Calgary Flames – Johansen’s size would fit in nice behind Sean Monahan. Names the Flames could offer up include Dennis Wideman, Kris Russell, Jiri Hudler or Mikael Backlund.
4.St. Louis Blues – Center isn’t a big need for the Blues, but they are under a lot of pressure to win. The Blues could offer David Backes (NTC and UFA), but the Blue Jackets would want to make sure they could sign him to an extension. Prospects the Blues could dangle include Robby Fabbri, Ty Rattie, Ivan Barbashev or Jordan Schmaltz. Their first round pick could be made available.
5.Minnesota Wild – The Wild lack size and power in their top-six. The Wild don’t have a lot of salary cap space, so they’d need to send some salary back. The Wild could offer Mikael Granlund ($3 million cap hit) plus another asset or two.

They aren't afraid to tank to get it done.
I just don't get why Mario would want to sell. Is he running out of cash? Figures the value is as high as it's going to get? Has something better he'd rather be doing? Is he just completely and utterly sick of hockey? |

To me it looks like the research that went into that article consisted of picking names off of a training camp roster for each team

Crosby for Schenn+Schenn+Schenn (I'm sure we can find another one somewhere)+VLC+Umberger+AMAC+a 5th - jmatchett383
There's a third Schenn brother, younger I believe, a friend of mine claims her and him had some "naughty time" back in college. I think I believe her but she should have tried for Mr. $3.6 mil-a-year instead of the no-name brother. |

Giving up too much - he has a concussion history. He's one accidental run in with Gudas from LTIR. |

I'd prefer he get into some NHL action this year before anointing him NHL backup ready for next year. If he isn't ready, and our starter gets injured long-term (a month+), it could sink our season. - jmatchett383
I wasn't anointing him anything. My point is that if he is consistent the rest of the year, they may look at giving him a shot. It could be later this year, it could be in training, it could be in the early part of next season. At some point if he proves he deserves it, they will need to make a decision of which one to move along and it may be before next year's deadline. |

Yes, but both Crosby and Malkin are better when the other one isn't in the lineup. There's nfw they'll ever trade Crosby. The return they could get for Malkin would set them up for a good long time. |

Why has this approach not been taken with Vinny?

I agree. But I think they'll roll with Mason and Neuvirth at least through this season. Next year, if he keeps progressing, then you can work him into some games and make a decision. I know they have to make a decision at some point, but they have two goalies playing well right now, and since they're both controlled past this year, no need to rush Stolarz up any time soon. |
