That's the most guts they've shown all year. Sometimes all the pretty charts and graphs are irrelevant and you just have to show some guts and a willingness to stand up for your teammates. Nice job.

Is it weird w/o crosby in the line up we get alot of offense.

Let him sit for a couple weeks. Might do wonders for this team

- pensfan024

Agree with sitting for a few maybe a week but no longer.

I've said this before, there is a different team mindset when Sid plays, it appears other players lack confidence or authority to play offence they seem to leave Sid with the responsibility of attack for the team. When he's out everyone else seems to step up!

Matthews is in Europe not the NCAA, but yeah I agree with everything else.

And yeah he came back a few shifts later thank Christ. It looked really bad when it happened. Jenner actually pulled his body away and left his leg there. If he wasn't blatantly trying for knee to knee contact, he definitely knew it was gonna happen and didn't try to avoid it.

I put together a very good team, maybe a little weak at LW:
Center: Datsyuk, Federov, Larionov, Sundin
RW: Jagr, Salanne, Kurri, Bure
LW: Ovechkin, Statsny, Kahrlamov, Kariya
D: Lidstrom, Gonchar, Saljming, Fetisov, Ruotsolainin, Leetch
G: Dryden, Hasek

Even have a couple of dirty dog Americans.

Be more fun to make all time teams. I'll take the CHL you can take the rest of the entire world. You'll take 3 weeks I'll take 10 minutes and my team will crush yours.

I'd take my chances with this quickly made non-North America team - certainly wouldn't get crushed.

Tretiak/Hasek

Fetisov, Kasatanov, Ragulin, Lidstrom, Salming, Vasiliev, Chara, Konstantinov

Mikhailov, Kharlamov, Petrov, Makarov, Larionov, Krutov, Mikita, Federov, Bure, Ovechkin, Malkin, Statsny, Kurri, Jagr, Forsberg, Selanne

And if I could borrow Bobby Hull, I'd add the Hull/Nilsson/Hedberg line as well

Well there you go Dcoms. I defer to Thunderbolt to make the all time team. My present day team probably goes something like:

Pacciorety-Malkin-Tarasenko
JVR-Backstrom-Ovechkin
Parise-Toews-Backes
Wheeler-Kopitar-Sedin

Keith-Shattenkirk
Suter-Faulk
McD-Niskanen

Quick
Bob

Lots of young talented guys I left out of there in favor of vet presences. I'd absolutely feel comfortable betting on that team's spread as under dogs. The top 6 has scoring punch and the bottom six will knock you in the mouth. The third line would be an amazing shut down line.

EDIT: Lolz I left out Kessel and Hossa without even realizing it. I would be an awful GM.

Dude........18 year old Crosby, 18 year old Mario and 18 year old Gretzky with 18 year old Orr and 18 year old Ray Bourque instead of Cofey because Coffey bloomed late would average 4 goals a shift as a line. They wouldn't even need to play with a goalie it would never be in their end.

I should have just stopped at dude, everything that followed was laughable at best. 3 18 year old centers are going to dominate 2 of the greatest 5 man units to ever play the game? Men that completely changed the way the game of hockey was played worldwide wouldn't touch the puck? I'm going to guess you're in your 20's and none too familiar with the CCCP teams. Teams that medaled in every single IIHF tournament they played from '54-'91 and went 62-6-2 in the Olympics in that time frame. Not to mention 3 of your 5(along with Coffey) in their prime years did indeed play against the green unit team and barely won with a goalie...3 1 goal games 2 of which went to OT.

But since this turned into a comedy routine, I'll play along...18 year old Sid would whine your team into 4 PP's against, and 18 year old Gretzky would whine you into 3 more when he wasn't hiding in the corner without 22 year old Semenko and 16 year old McSorley there to make sure no one breathed on him. Not to mention you could always send Bobby Clarke out to break Kharlamov's ankle again

Well is that a turning point??
- Aussiepenguin

Michelle thought so!

After allowing both goals in the Pens’ 2-1 loss to Carolina in their last game, the penalty kill came up big when the team needed it most. They were tasked with counting down 1:24 minutes of a 5-on-3 Columbus power play down 1-0 and with one of their best PKers, Matt Cullen, in the box for that sequence. But even with their recent shorthanded struggles, the guys delivered. Nick Bonino was especially noticeable, coming up with a big block and clear, while Ben Lovejoy made a tremendous play to intercept a cross-crease pass and shoot it down the ice, thwarting what would have likely been a goal. I felt that kill was absolutely the turning point in the game. Oh, and the power play was tremendous as well, going 2-for-3 on the evening.
