So I'm sure it's already been discussed... 14 points in 18 games from our undersized, rookie defenseman. Sounds like Calder consideration to me (so far of course), but Panarin, eichel, parayko, larkin, and domi... right? Gimme a (frank)ing break.

removing gotstobehere would have a detrimental effect on this team imo...doesn't matter if it is a paper move or only one game...it sets a bad example.

They know why it would be done and they'll all get over it. They're big boys.

I understand all the numbers...I use NHL numbers too. However I think those numbers are fluid and change as the roster plays out the rest of the season.
- YuenglingJagr

Of course they do. A player could be sent down, more players called up, it just all has to add up at the end of the year.

Nope, nobody wants him anywhere but on the ice with the Flyers. Ghost's tearing it up and apparently G's a big fan. I'm just saying for one game they can endure.
- wolfhounds

nothing to do with enduring. it sets a bad example imo....who knows that one game could separate being a playoff team and a non playoff team!!!

to Just5 cause, well, the damn quotes aren't working: the beat writers are implying its not a definite he will stay. I like the job hextall has done so far and I agree with patience when grooming prospects (I still think Coots was rushed personally), but that said, its ridiculous if Ghost goes back. Pretty sure the kid has shown he is ready for the NHL and even when he has made mistakes it hasn't been glaring too much and it doesn't seem to affect his confidence. if anyone should go back I would pick Laughton due to his lack of a regular shift.

He's definitely been as advertised or better. However, it's only been 18 games and Panarin/Domi/Larkin have been doing it all season. If he can keep it up, he's got a shot, but it's a long ways to go.

I believe it's the one non-Lady-Byng trophy that a Flyer has never won.

It not a typo. There's a difference between cap hit and cap charge. They took away the cap charge for the time he spent on the active roster.
They're using cap number for cap hit, and cap hit for cap charge.

- MJL

Where are you getting this 'cap charge' number from?

I agree, from a hockey perspective, and a fan perspective. Gostisbehere is so much fun to watch. Only thing that would play in, is if they don't feel he would get enough icetime.

The raw numbers I used in my calculations were obtained from nhlnumbers.com

Yup. I followed the link and I see the 'cap hit' for AMac at $3.94mm, but I don't see anything regarding 'cap charge' and $4.94mm.

I posted previously, nhlnumbers uses the term "cap number" for cap hit, and "cap hit" for cap charge.

Do people really not understand that should Ghost get sent down it's purely a $ decision, not a reflection of his play or value, and is most definitely a temporary situation?

Relax, people, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

If you add those numbers up you actually get $73,293,000.

Did you include the 500K retained for Grossmann, or the 329K spent on call ups to this point?

Forwards 41,076,000
Defence 20,722,000
Goaltenders 5,725,000
MacDonald 4,941,0000
Grossmann 500,000
Call ups 329,000

Equals 72,293,000 minus 71,400,000 = 893,000. That's what they have to clear. I mistakenly posted 853K previously

If he ends up at around a ppg with the impact he's had he'll probably be a finalist.

But we've be reassured over and over again that the Flyers cap issues are overblown, if the Flyers have to send down a player making 925k due to a money decision what does that tell you?

It tells me you will be posting a lot because it's something negative about the Flyers and you hate negative things about the Flyers...

I made a mistake in what I typed for MacDonald. It should say 3,941, not 4,941. Good catch.

It's simple, the Flyers do not have to send down Gostisbehere due to a money situation. They have other options. If Gostisbehere is sent down, it's due to a choice the Flyers made. This is what you get when people don't understand the situation.

Some want endless and unlimited money to spend on players, and if that's not the case, well then, the Flyers have a cap problem, and are in "cap hell".
