I already did. It is a future cap number cause performance bonuses do not have to be on this years cap. You are suggesting they need to comply with a certain number to activate Streit while accounting for performance bonuses from Ghost and Laughton - YuenglingJagr
That is incorrect on both counts.

In all seriousness.. If the Jackets were to try to move him at the deadline, dont you think they would be able to get at least a 2nd rounder? - jak521
Not certain. Really. Based on his play, then yeah, definitely. But the future cap implications have caused other deals to be tweaked.
Look at Kessel. He's 28. He's 5th in the NHL in goals scored over the past 6 years and he did that with Tyler Bozak as his primary center.
The Leafs had to add in a former 1st round pick, a well traveled but skilled defenseman and a 2nd rounder to get a 1st, 3rd and two prospects for him...and they had to eat cash for 7 more years |

agreed. I understood Lindros because of his injuries and the ridiculous season Selanne had. - nastyflyergirl
Lindros definitely didn't deserve to win over Selanne. I think Renberg deserved more consideration after his great rookie year. |

it was because the winner was a Ranger |

okay dude....here I will make it easier for you. You are using NHL numbers. 1.131 is not the cap number for Ghost and 1.076 is not the cap number for Laughton. |

NHL numbers says it is, if they're wrong, take it up with them. Let me say one thing. I've been dealing with the cap since it came out. I was one of the first posters to truly understand how the cap works. One thing I've learned is, that there are a lot of quirks to the cap, that are sometimes not clear. I've learned not to question those, and just go with the information given. It's there for a reason.
You're making a lot of assumptions here, as to what I know and what I'm using. Such as insinuating that I don't understand the bonus cushion. Not the case. |

Well I am new and I understand it. I am not suggesting you dont understand the bonus cushion...but I am saying that you are using the numbers on NHL numbers incorrectly. Those numbers are the cap hits the Flyers will have to account for at the end of the season, but not right now in the present day. In other words, adding up the numbers there will NOT give you the exact amount of space the Flyers need to clear in order to bring up Streit as you have suggested. If you are using them and they are wrong, then you are wrong.
That is simply my understanding of the way it works. I am not guaranteeing it, i dont work for the NHL, or NHLPA, or the Flyers, or anyone that is associated with them. I just find the stuff generally interesting, and I, like others on here, wanted to discuss the situation and try to figure it out. |

Yeah, don't expect many guys w/ a lot of term to get moved during the season, especially not for picks/prospects. Gotta be money retained/money going back to make anything happen with all the uncertainties surrounding future cap growth. |

Maybe if the Jackets ate $1.5-$2mm per year of the remainder....but given the Horton-Clarkson trade, I'm betting they would not be eager to eat money. |

Hexy was really smart to move Hartsy when he did... another season or so and he wouldn't have been able to get it done. |

Almost no chance 88 beats out selanne for calder, renberg was the best first year player in 93/94.
Edit: even if lindros played a full season. |
