I've been mulling this over for awhile and my opinion was reinforced from watching the today's game. Virtanen has poor offensive instincts and is very difficult to play with. He does however, have a great skill set. At the top prospects game he was the fastest skater both forwards and backwards...

I wonder if he would be better served playing D. He can skate the back out of the zone, has a good shot and can stand up guys with his physical play. He gets in trouble when he is forced to cycle and use his teammates. He just doesn't have much creativity and hockey sense. I could see him being a solid physical D man who can man the point on the PP. the game is a bit simpler on D. Just a crazy thought

Things to consider . Do we start turning Markstom into the lead goalie? Maybe then Miller asks to be moved . Cap space

Pedan had impressive outing against a young fast team. He made the Oilers keep their heads up and looking out for him. He was burnt once in the first , no damage done. They should re-sign him move weber out.

This is what we look like without Burrows and Higgins, easily can be replaced.

These small adjustments come to a savings . 14 .5 mil out less than 3 mil plus the cost of a back up coming back on the books

That is not even mentioning Vrbata and Hamhis and the 9.5 savings.

The only one with the big brain fart is Edler, but he gets more minutes and against top lines. The last three games the D has been very stingy.

I'm a forward, perhaps I'm biased. Perhaps simpler isn't the most accurate description. I just think he could play more of a north south game from the backend

Vey has had a good stint since being called up. More options. The clear cut thing is the Canucks can operate the same without the more expensive Burrows and Higgins
