We won't the
Presidents trophy because we played in the softest division in the NHL . Back then the Oilers Flames and Avs were horrible. They didn't make any adjustments whatsoever . They should have back then made one or two moves instead of being stuck 4 years later needing to make 10 moves. Upgrade every year.
Why are you waiting until TDL to move a Vrbata or Higgins? Why not this week? Higgins is going to get zero return so why wait until TDL. Montreal are struggling now so why not take Tinordi and the third before they get a better option or he gets injured? - VANTEL
We didnt win by being in the softest division, that was a popularized sentiment back a bit ago of haters making excuses for canucks success. When you looked back then at our success against our own division it was terrible, but got our wins against top teams and non divsional games. So that popular line that lasted for years was full of poop. I remember they proved that using stats of the records during those years.
I do agree make tweaks and upgrades as you go each year. Makes the most sense. Some GMs have good eye for seeing a declining player and moving him early while value is there.
I also 100% agree theres no reason to wait to move guys, do it now....UNLESS you suspect value will increase by waiting till TDL. Otherwise dop it now....get the replacement in asap, higgins is only taking up space.
I like tinordi for higgins + 3rd much better. Mackenzie felt a 3rd would get tinordi, so if we can dump higgins too bonus.
Too bad higgins cant perform anymore, I liked him over the years |

I believe the rumor that they tried shopping him in the summer and no takers. I don't see a GM stepping in when he is playing even worst. I would be shocked if any team wanted him. Look at the UFAs that are still available today. They can be had for free. - VANTEL

We still need to pick top 10 for a few more years though...maybe 3.
As much as I like Markstrom I really think it will be Demko that gets us back to the top 10 in the league. we are looking at 3-5 years IMO. A couple of shrewd trades and some good scouting and picking and we should be back at it.
It's convincing the Aquafeenis that drafting and developing is the way to go...that will be a problem. - LordHumungous
One top three selection that hits and they should be on their way. The hitting is the hard part. |

If you go back and look at our winning percentage vs the other divisions out west or vs the east we win regardless. |

Mike Richards, Stephen Weiss, Michael Ryder, Matt Cooke, Ollie Jokinen , Brendan Morrow ,all can be had for 1 mil instead of 2.5 and no picks given up. |

We had a good regular season team for years, but they still should have been making tweaks back then to the roster. |

our record against avs and flames was not good. 1 year the oilers pretty much owned us too I remember....I remember that year Hall I believe had a hat trick against us....loungo was left in again by AV.
There was an article dispelling that myth that we just beat up on flamers coilers and Avs. It used the record against those teams to prove it. Canucks over their history have always lost to bottom feeders and steamrolled the best teams, so this is extremely easy to see. No one can argue that, its the canucks signature for decades.
please guys, remember I did not write the article so no female doging about its content. I am merely relaying it. Look up the stats if you like and do with it what you will. |

Gillis did going in to the playoffs. He added Lapierre and Higgins and both played really well. Manny's eye injury did us in.
There were plenty of tweaks beforehand and afterwards, including trying to get nastier by trading Coho for Kassian.
We lost, now we're trying to rebuild. We all appreciate the enthusiasm but wholesale changing the entire roster isn't necessarily the solution. |

It's a process! There's been a lot of changes in the past year and a half, and more to come hopefully. |

Of course. I still wish we would have drafted a 1st round Dman at some point......but I love that McCann pick. Either the Shink pick or Virtanen pick trading down would have been awesome.
It's important to insulate youth with vets, or you end up with Edmonton. |

Wasn't
Lapierre Higgins in 2011?
Manny was a huge loss again I think that was 2011. Not sure. Gillis made trades maybe I should have said we haven't developed any players to replace vets between 2012 2015 (last year) other than Tanev and Bo . We did Schneider and Coho but both are gone |

Should have picked Shea Theodore instead of Shinkaruk if Gillis had any brains in his head |

I like the changes. I think we are a better team now than we were two years ago even though the record may show different. The ship is facing the right way |

The team is worse put our prospect pool actually exists now, that's what gets me excited for the future. |
