Of course. I still wish we would have drafted a 1st round Dman at some point......but I love that McCann pick. Either the Shink pick or Virtanen pick trading down would have been awesome.

It's important to insulate youth with vets, or you end up with Edmonton.

I was hoping we didnt take Virtanen at 6. I would have liked to have traded down to 9-10 as he probably still would have been available and if not anyone of Virtanen, Fiala, Fluery, Nylander, Perlini, Ehlers or Ritchie.

Maybe he'll pan out, I'm just not convinced he's 1st line talent. It's not like he's oozing with intangibles either.

Virtanen has the upside...he's just gonna need 2-3 seasons in Utica and not be rushed into the lineup. He's not ready like McCann and Horvat or Hutton.

Unless he fetches a huge return he's much better served mentoring and taking the pressure off of some young D.

I'd love to trade him if he'll re-sign in the summer.

It's not like the fountain of youth is glimmering with D prospects to take his place.

Im really hoping JB can land Nikita Zaitsev out of the KHL. Would be like adding a top D prospect for nothing. At 23 and 6'2 is the perfect age and should be able to step in as top 4 and 1st unit PP.

Edler - Tanev
Hutton - Zaitsev
Pedan - Sbisa - Biega

Then this year all things being equal if we can draft 2 Dmen in the first 2 rounds we would be set for years especially already having Neill, Subban, Tryamkin, Brisebois in the pipe line.

I dont have a problem with the player I just felt coming off an injury he would have been around a few spots later and if not there were lots of players to choose from instead. A year in the AHL next season and going back to Jr this year should really help his game.

Can Zaitsev be signed as a free agent? He's the guy that most GM's are currently salivating over right now, isn't he?

interesting signing

- vancity787

it's been 9 months since then. That said he seems to be showing potential an getting better in the AHL. 3-5-8 are good stats for 1st year in the A for 19 games played.

those scrambles in front are a bit of a joke, wjc fin-rus, when the goalie gets pushed into the net. I guess a russian skater could have pushed their own goalie into the net, but it seems wrong when the goalie is on the goal line, and gets pushed into the net and a goal is scored.

was hoping for the fins as the underdog, doesn't really matter who wins, just want to see the game called properly.

Marner shying away from corner boards against a Danish player. He's not impressed me at all. Looks soft and makes bad decisions with the puck.

It is interesting today the fact that the Habs didn't have Emelin Eller and Tinordi on the ice for no reason. It adds fuel to the fire of MTL looking to make a trade.

The two names I seen in play are Wayne Simmonds and Vrbata . I seen who the Habs had on RW on Saturday and that explains everything about why they need to do something. They could go after both players.

I would like to get Tinordi and a third for Vrbata. Tinordi has been written off but IMO would be a good partner with Pedan. Both players are an adventure but so is Sbisa and Weber. That bottom pairing would provide a lot of big hits and toughness , and they would have each other's back. They are both extremely young and can learn the game together
