I'm starting to think B. Schenn is what he is at this point. A streaky player who disappears for long stretches. Pretty underwhelming. - PLindbergh31
Where'd you put your orange sunglasses? Find them and then finish reading this....
-they need to pick a position for b schenn and leave him there! How is he supposed to be consistent!
-coots just needs to play with top wingers and then he'll bring 2nd line production!
-it's a bad mix on defense!
-Vandevelde should get 10 mins instead of 12, he's killing us!

the guy (frank)ing sucks. Probably Holmgrens fault too. - hockeylover
Not sure where pointing out a player of Giroux's caliber being pointless in 5 straight games implies he sucks, but have at it. |
|
|
|
What's your definition of have a say? If Hextall wants to trade Giroux tomorrow for Stamkos is Holmgren going to tell him he cant?
I think we all can agree he might use Holmgren as a sounding board but if Hextall wants to do something with the team he will. With or without Holmgren's approval. - J35Bacher
well yes I think Holmgren has that power to veto that trade. |

If Kassian can mature in attitude, he will thrive in Edmonton. Edmonton has been looking for a player with power forward potential for awhile. Kassian is young, nearing the age of the rest of the young core. I think he can do well there. |

|
I agree with him. - J35Bacher
then that's your opinion as well. not a fact |

I actually agree with all of this. These are only the basic issues of the team. |

Do me a favor, and take a look at the scoring stats for centers last year, and see how many 2nd line centers in the league had 50 points. Couturier, even with the poor offensive start this season, is on pace for 40 points currently. If his increase in scoring keeps going, he could put up a 50 point season. - MJL
actually he is on pace for 37 points. |

Stepan/Brassard not sure who their top line C is
Spezza
Couture
T Johnson
R Oreilly
Dubinsky 36 pts 47 games
There is a couple for you. Point is Couturier is a good player IMO he is not a 2nd line centre. I would like a little more finish and offensive production

There were 33 centers in the league last year who scored 50 or more points. There are 30 teams in the league.

Last night's game was atrocious. I thought Couturier and Voracek had decent games and Ghost was solid on the PP, but other than that, it was just ugly. Giroux, both Schenns, Manning, Umberger, Medvedev and Schultz were particularly bad and Mason has no excuse on the 3rd goal, he HAS to make that save.

Agree, the team was bad. I would start Neuvirth against Sharks ( not to pin loss on Mason) but just to give the guy some action. He does not let in the "soft goals" and this team cannot afford those. |

I always liked him for some reason. Much rather have him then Vandevelde. |

If they are on the ice together then yes he has some impact. If your wingers are doing nothing offensively then yes it can effect the center.
I am not disagreeing that Giroux hasn't been good, but this isn't golf. He's not out there alone and if he hits a bad shot he only has himself to blame. - J35Bacher
Could blame the weather, the grass, the club, the caddie, the crowd, the TV helicopter, Canada, Jews, ....you name it |

That' prospects.
Lot's of teams tried to acquire him with the same hope that he would flourish so it's not like the Flyers were the only team. He just isn't a dynamic player. He could be a solid role player on a more talented team. He has shown skill. He just isn't consistent enough. ANd he is kind of like a tweener. He isn't physical enough to be a power forward but not skilled enough to be a real playmaker.

While I'll agree we don't know exactly how much power he has, I am confident Hextall didn't come here to be GM and just a yes man. He was talked about for a lot of GM jobs before coming here. I don't think he comes here unless they do it his way.
I mean look at the Eagles. Howie Roseman was promoted to executive vice president of football operations. Do we really think he has any say in the eagles roster. - J35Bacher
We do not know exactly what say Holmgren has, but the evidence is clear it is minimal. The team management strategy has done a complete 180 since Hextall took over (albiet somewhat due to salary cap contraints). If Holmer still had a say, we would have been buying at the TDL and trying to sign UFAs to fill holes |

3rd line scorer is what he is. The flyers can't pay him like he's anything more than that. |

I think he might get moved at the deadline for a natural winger. He's an RFA. Maybe a deal the sends another RFA our way that needs a change. Or maybe a prospect winger and pick.
I thought he would become more then he is. |
