1 game after a 5 day break and oh look, Team Negative has shown up in full effect.
Clearly that 1 game is more indicative of their play then say the last 15 games right? - opeth_pa
I got lucky my kids made we watch a Bond movie after the first period...so I thought they played well!!! I think they have been pretty good the last month and a half or so....at least they seem engaged for 60 minutes a night ...with that I'm fine with hick ups here and there. |

I think this team will be much better in SJ. Two practices will help. This team needs the instruction time. Basically 5 days completely off. Not good for this team.
They did not play well last night. I also think Anaheim is not as bad as they played thus far this season. I am fine with this happening for one game. If it stretches into 2-3-4 games I will be angry. |

What I like about Morin, other than his obvious size and mean streak, is that he skates well, and he seems very committed to working on improving his overall game. He seems like he really has a good head on his shoulders and I really think a lot of fans are going to be pleasantly surprised by him in the future. Basically, I think he can be a bigger, much nastier, version of Braydon Coburn and that works for me. - BiggE
He'll never skate like him. But more physical and nasty yes |

They played without Streit and Del Zotto last night. If they want to activate and play Streit, the Flyers have to make a move. - MJL
But MDZ was expected to play last night, right? Did he hurt himself opening a really big present? |

Oh god plz... We traded pronger for chrissakes can't we do something with a practice dummy? - JoeRussomanno
Outside of buyouts, Umberger, VLC, and MacDonald are here for the duration of their contracts. Absolute dead (frank)ing wood. There isn't a single team in the NHL with anywhere close to having 3 contracts like that on complete garbage. |

Agreed 100% on all accounts! If he becomes a 2-3 Dman who can play 20-22min and top PK mins, I would say he fully fulfilled his expectations. |

Who sits if both Streit and MDZ are back against SJ? Manning and Medvedev? Manning and Schenn? |

Not at all. I think most of their problems last night were due to 2 things:
-Anaheim played perhaps their best game of the season
and
-missing Del Zotto really hurt and left a huge hole on D
The only other thing the game left me wondering is if Giroux is nursing an injury because he really didn't look like his usual self out there, nor did he for the last couple of games before the break. - BiggE
Was thinking the same thing about G. Apparently he's been taking maintenance days, wonder if it's hand/arm/shoulder related, could impact draws. Or he was just way off last night. |

He's obviously not going to be in great shape or game-ready, but if MDZ is out, Streit has to get back in, right? And then somebody is waived... - wolfhounds
Very possibly

After this season Umberger will not be impossible to move if they eat some salary. VLC and MacDonald aren't going anywhere I agree. |

Since Couturier has been with Voracek, he's averaged a point per game. Jake's had 9 point in that time. |

I thought the same thing and someone on twitter mentioned that MDZ was practicing with Streit (also injured) the other day, implying that MDZ might have hurt himself in the last game. Seems really odd. |

And that is the key. They cannot let one game spiral into a losing streak like we've seen so often during the last few years.

Lets see page one has the typical "Same Flyers , Blame Holmer, BLURGGERHGHH!!!" posts that get made after every loss. What are they in there last 15 games, 10-2-3?
I get it Holmgren made bad trades but that ship has sailed, time for people to let that go.
If Giroux is nursing an injury I think it has to be upper body (shoulder, wrist) because his skating looks normal for him.

No one is taking Umberger. Even if they retain the max, he will still cost a team 2.3 million and no one is spending that for a guy who is basically a 12/13 forward at this point. |

They have a tough schedule for the next little bit. If they go into an extended losing streak, the playoffs are out. Even if they play .500 hockey, they may be out. With the 3 point games, look how long it took them to even gain a few points, with one of the best records over a span of time in the league. |

Don't forget Kesler is one of the best faceoff men in the league. Could just have been a bad game. We will see. |

As for last night, first games back after a long layoff & a 3,000 mile flight, can be tough. The worry starts if it happens against San Jose. The Flyers need better play from everyone, although a few stood out more than others last night.
Hopefully, if Streit comes back, he's able to return to a good level of play soon. If he struggles to get back to form it could be really rough. |

They only need one team to do it. Not saying it is likely. Just not impossible. |
