The idea here is that when this team is good he won't be a 17 goal player. At least that's my best guess, as ridiculous as it may sound. - Sabresfan-365
That's the hope. He might have career highs as a Sabre. |

We did?
Bogosian has played half of the games since being moved here, and Kane has already missed time, is producing at under a 40 point clip, and is in the news for sexual assault.
Slam dunk - sbroads24
We wanted toughness on the back end and we got it with bogo, we wanted a winger who is/was a corsi monster. Just bcz a player has a history of being injured doesnt gurantee anything for the future. If bogo did not have that history we wouldnt have gotten him for that chump myers. Any other year kane would have 10 goals by now ,~1 every 3 gms, but bcz of a new rule he only has 8. Still not horrible. |

Come on...break down the trade....Stafford played more games but regardless has produced as well or better for Winnepeg than Kane has this year....plus the picks and prospects - Jeropotato
Stafford will never be more than a good 3rd liner and a weak 2nd liner. I don't care if he plays 82 games a season for the rest of his career. Kane 25 games 13 points Stafford 35 games 17 points 4 more points in 10 games played... And half the games Kane played early on he was hurt. The picks and prospects were all jokes. |

Armia isnt special, what does Lemieux's refusal to sign have to do with anything? Doesn't mean you throw him into an already lopsided deal.
1st round picks deliver unknowns...he might be an all star or never play. - Jeropotato
the thing about armia is that he was not the type of player murray wanted to build with...way too meek for a player of his size...
also it should be noted that when murray made that trade the sabres already had four first rounders from the 2012 and 2013 drafts, reinhart and three seconds in 2014 and they were lookin' at three first rounders in 2015...
finally, on Lemieux, murray did not want to part with him...Winnipeg wanted him...in saying that, however, all indications was that lemieiux was going to be a headache for buffalo in the near future |

too quick to judge, imo...kane has 25 games under his belt with buffalo, bogo 18 - Michael Pachla
Kane also has 6 years under his belt, he is what he is. Same with Bogo. |

I think they were more interested in the style of play (and what Murray wants the team to look like) than anything else. Which is fine but it also means until the team comes together you have to temper statistical expectations. |

Kane can't play a full season either, that's why that rate equals 17 goals most years. |

and that's what murray wanted--young veterans
kane's a thoroughbred entering his prime...how it all turns out is up for debate, but imo it's a little too early to caste him as an average player who'll put up Stafford-like numbers |

He's not average, he's pretty good. However when you are the main piece coming back in a trade involving top 4 defensemen, 1st round picks, and good prospects, I would have hoped for someone better coming back.

I get it, it wasn't a horrible trade overall, It's just underwhelming when as an Oilers fan asking about Myers this time last year Sabres fans were starting the conversation at Hall, scoffing at Eberle, and a year later celebrating the settlement for Kane???
Just saying, I like some of the elements Kane brings, but he has never been a consistant volume scorer, nor has he had the ability to play a full season. |

The first 4 years of his career he missed 34 total games. I don't know if they were all due to injury or maybe a young guy getting some press box time, but that doesn't seem like too many games for the banging style he plays with. Now the shoulder injury most likely was a result of this, and that comes with that style, but I'm pretty sure it had been nagging him for two years before it got fixed. |

The actual trade was posted on here the night before it happened, and I kid you not 95% of the posters here thought it was laughable and they wouldn't do it |

I seem to remember that. We'll come back in a year and still be reading excuses for Kane's lack of production, I guarantee it. |

Hard to say. Myers was a player that was flawed, but still generated a poopload of interest around the league. |

stafford was a pending ufa so i dont get why he keeps getting brought up in this. Second kane is or was at the trade a corsi monster. The point is u dont win stanley cups with mediocre players. Yeah they are injury prone and its a gamble but we didnt give up much to get him. |

That's because of the Chara comparisons. But they couldn't be further apart in terms of players with Chara having the "heavy" component and Myers having a purse (I like Myers as a player, but man the dude is soft)(He also likes celery, can we bring that back) |

Doubtful on that.
I truly think the reason Murray made that trade was to make sure with 100% certainty that last place was achieved in the McDavid/Eichel draft, and trading for a player that was out for the season in Kane was ideal for that goal.
While I am not saying he doesn't like Kane, I wonder if he would have made that trade had Kane been healthy and playing at the time it was made last year.
He essentially gutted the team with Myers and Stafford going the other way, and it worked as they barely secured last place. |

Crazy part is they had the 1st rounders mixed up and Sabres fans still called it an overpayment, lol[/img] |
