a lot of people debating the trade; lets just say Bogo/Myers as a wash ( even though people will debate both sides) that leaves Kane and Kasdorf for Stafford, Lemieux, Armia and a First rounder that turned into Raslovic. I think every team in the NHL take that trade if they are the Jets. |

Had the Sabres asked for Eberle, they may well have gotten him straight up, and he's better than Kane, tho it makes too many current Sabres redundant. - Jeropotato
You think Edmonton would have greenlit an Eberle for Myers trade straight up?
I don't think I believe the Oilers would have done that. |

He could be. But you have to give to get. And seen as we destroyed the Avalanche in that trade I think giving up a good prospect and getting two established players in this one is fine - bluengold12
Yeah you guys won the O'Rielly trade....land then proceeded to sign him to a bonehead contract |

Stafford and Armia combined aren't worth Kane. The Sabres had a plethora of 1st's so giving one up I'm fine with. Lemieux stings a bit but if the reports of him not wanting to sign here are true than good riddance! |

Probably not, actually, he was our best player 2nd half last year. I think now we would do that deal tho. |

To me, lamenting over lost parts in trades is like crying over ex-girlfriend's.
It's a a complete and total waste of time. |

Stafford and Armia? No they are not.
Add Lemieux? Fair deal
Add a 1st? Highway Robbery!
Bogo for Myers is pretty close. |

What contract isn't boneheaded these days, especially for guys that are UFA's to be?
If you wait to sign only value contracts, you end up with a roster of filler 9 times out of 10. |

Considering he's a top 15 player in the NHL right now I'm not complaining. McGinn has also been excellent for us. |

I'll grant you the 1st but not highway robbery.
A pending UFA and two prospects, one of a longer time line of being impactful, for Kane would not be enough if I were the GM.
I would want more, which is why Chevy upgraded his blueline from Bogosian to Myers as part of the deal, because he had to as what I mentioned above, minus the 1st, was not enough for Kane. |

Kane gives us more versatility. We want to be tougher to play against and a guy like eberle does not do that. U always hate and remember guys that grind on you over somebody Trying to score a goal. |

Apperently you couldn't comprehend what I said. We didn't need the extra 1st. Stafford and Armia are not as good as Kane combined. That's a fact. Lemieux is playing well in juniors lets see what happens when he plays against men. He could very good but I bet that's the only part of that trade we see solid results from besides the 1st rounder we gave up when we all ready had a lot in the first place. |

Oh gee I don't know... Look at the stats and how well he's played this year. How all his goals have come late in the game's and how his clutch leadership and teaching of our young players has helped the team overall. Yeah I'd say he's playing like a top 15 player in the league right now. |

Would have to think he's pretty close, though I think there are more than 15 players in would take over him if I were starting a team |

He's 18th in the league in overall scoring, is winning almost 60% of his faceoffs, and is playing close to 22 minutes a night and has 6 total PIMs. So, yeah, pretty close. |

The last part is malarkey but I agree, you have enough softies like Ennis and at the time Hodgeson that you don't need another like Eberle. On a different team Eberle>Kane, but not in this case. |

This is just drivel. Stafford and lemiuex had no value to buffalo. Are they good players, yes but they were looking to walk away from us for nothing. |

Yeah there are some players who are underwhelming this year like Crosby that I'd obviously take over O'Riley. Surprisingly O'Riley has more points than Ovi this year. But this year alone he's top 15 right now in my opinion. |

Well he's 18th in points with a few games in hand, 1st in faceoffs, rarely takes penalties, defensively sound, the de facto captain, and is usually the best player on the ice. Great passer, just doesn't have the pretty highlight reel. I don't think saying top 15 player RIGHT NOW is that absurd. That being said, a top 20 for sure IMO.

He has more points than Ovi, he is clutch and a Leader. Top 5 in FO% and shuts down opposing teams #1 players while puuting up the points he has. How is he not a top 15 player right now? |
