Not trying to call you out or anything JJ, but what GM does ANY other GM a "favor"? Every single GM has his team's best interest in mind and nothing else. Please give me an example of a time when a GM(other than Uncle Dale Tallon for Stan) "gave them a favor"...I just think the narrative of every GM against the Hawks is a bit overstated. I could be totally wrong, but I think every GM plays hardball with EVERY other GM....not just Stan Bowman bc the Hawks have won 3 Cups in 6 seasons and everyone is jealous. - EnzoD
No GM wants to be the one who gives the Blackhawks their missing piece for another cup this year unless they are the clear long term winner in the trade. I think some brave GM can get some value from the Blackhawks if they are willing to take a risk; probably a newer GM with some time to see a trade pay off or a more established GM who is secure in his job. |

I agree and I don't think that the Panthers would trade away ANY major contributor on their team unless they absolutely collapse (which I don't see happening at all)...however, they like Dano and have enquired about HIS availability. The Panthers are looking to add, not dump. - MexicoHawk
This makes sense. A lot of sense.
All I said was they like Dano. The Hawks like Huberdeau. but, obviously, it would take more than Dano to acquire Huberdeau.

That's probably your choices at this point. - Garnie
They asked, Leafs declined. End of story. (to your point)
Why is it so hard for some to think the Hawks would ask the price on good players who fill a need? |

Al, what do you think the cost would be for one of the marquee rentals that will likely be available at the deadline?
Ladd, Buff, E. Staal
I have it pegged at a 1st and a top prospect. - coldsteelonice
The interesting two will be Ladd and Staal....I think there is little doubt Buff will be available. My guess is all 3 will and it will take at least a Vermette like deal to get any of the above.
Issue for the Hawks is if the team is looking for ready made players who can contribute very soon....I'm not sure how many the Hawks have besides Danault, maybe, maybe Dano. Polka is a work in progress I hear and maybe the same could be said for other dmen in Rockford....And I don't know how much a 1st round pick near the end of Day 1 will excite either club.

Actually, did a bit more digging and I think you're right. HB Cap Central had him as RFA. Well, that explains a bit better why AZ might trade him and would point more to him being a rental. However, much can change between now and 7/1 for the Hawks. he is good, young, has upside and might want to play in Chicago. But AZ has his rights for now. - John Jaeckel
I think his UFA status makes his price lower. Should the Hawks get him as a rental, that works. Should they do well adding him, perhaps he will temper his salary expectations to stay with a winner for the long term.
He is not my first choice, but he makes the top six better rental or not. |

Pretty sure he's UFA, Sage. I was going by that too but found some other info.

He is, however, 26 years old. And whoever holds his rights up to 6/30 has the best chance to sign him. - John Jaeckel
Another rental that wouldn't cost much is Jamie McGinn in Buffalo. Another guy who can play top 6 but also fit well on the third line.
I still think the Hawks will be in on Ladd with a 1st, Dano and Bickell with $1M retained salary. Trading Bickell and retaining salary is a lot better than buying him out and I think teams can stomach a $3M cap hit Bickell for 1 year given the other pieces. |

One more tidbit just now. Watch VERY closely if AZ picks up Rundblad on waivers. Could be a domino.
ALSO, there were allegedly some "future considerations" regarding AZ and the timing of Tikhonov's waiver.
Stay tuned. |

Agree with the above and will add he is still improving his play and it puts TT on the right side where he belongs - molly2522
Indeed.
TT getting 16:00 minutes last night along with the 4th line not getting 13/14:00 were the biggest surprises to me. Yea the kid floated and turned the thing over too many times, as he's done all year, but there was a play at the point where the Dman wound up and TT backed away from the block.
As you mention he moves to RW and maybe as importantly on the 3rd line he'll see much more favorable matchups than he'd see in the top 6....... Kid is lost, Q too(?), period.

Winnipeg is 100% not taking bickell back to help us out. They can get a similar return outisde of the division without needed to take back a bickell type contract with term left |

....More in like TT +?...Not sure Bowman would make that trade. Huberdeau is a $3.4 cap hit for this year and next...That's quite a bit more than TT.
I think the player you wrote about today...Bodker makes the most sense, I think he can play either wing and is affordable. If not him someone similar.
Bowman still has LTIR in his pocket on Kruger and with Rundblad gone the money could be there to do a bit more. |

That's not what JJ has been reporting from his source.
It has been the that Boedecker (unknown before an hour ago), would be acquired for the long term. - vabeachbear
Bear, this guy would be looking for 5 mil per or so as a UFA. I don't see him as anything other than a rental even if Bickell money were available.
No doubt a top 6 guy though.

Worked out good for Nil, like I've said, bet there are a few GMs kicking themselves for shying away from Sharp now. (MTL, BOS, PIT)
The strategy of not trading with the Hawks to help them out is a flawed premise. You do what you can to make your team better, regardless of who the trade is with.
If you are AZ and you aren't going to resign Boedecker, you trade him and get what you can, especially if you aren't making the playoffs. Even if its the with the Hawks.
They gave up Vermette, got 1st rounder, Dalhbeck, and got Vermette back. Pretty shrewd move for them I'd say. Hawks got a cup, but they got better. |

I don't think the Hawks see Boedker as a rental. He is impending RFA, not UFA. I think a longer term commitment is a real possibility. - John Jaeckel
I think he is going to be a UFA.

Don't know what is rumored but Boedker would be a rental...The math works and the cost shouldn't be sky high....And he could play up and down the lineup. - Al
Al, I gotta think the cost will be high. A sellers market, StanBowPops&McD over a barrel again with little leverage. ...... Best thing they have going is AZ would probably like to offload some top talent to win the Matthews lottery, an Arizona native. |

The Hawks and AZ, I'm told, have a "relationship." FWIW. You help me, I'll help you, and it allegedly impacted Tikhonov's release and subsequent claim by AZ. |

Ok, then they wouldn't get Dano and a 1st. I would bet that Bickell will not be a Blackhawk after this year's trade deadline. |

Most of us here know Shaw's value, and very few of us would be very happy if Shaw were to leave.
It would be a bad day (week, month, year, decade) for Stan if Shaw were to be gone.

Especially.
Who was Svedberg before Svedberg was the next Bobby Orr.
Some of the blowback I get on twitter about the "great Hawk defense prospects" that cannot be traded away is almost comical. |
