Sadly no. Some played hard whistle to whistle. This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an easily moved object. - CubanBuffet

Seven years worth of good drafting and you may just get a team like the Kings.

2006 - J. Bernier 11th overall, Trevor Lewis 17th overall
2007 - Hickey 4th overall, Simmonds 2nd rnd, Martinez & King 4th rnd
2008 - Doughty 2nd overall, Voynov 2nd rnd
2009 - B. Schenn 5th overall, Clifford 2nd rnd, Nolan 7th rnd
2010 - Forbort 15th overall, Toffoli 2nd rnd

Yup just nothing worth a top 10 pick - VANTEL
Really? Cause I'm pretty sure there have been 2 or 3 guys in the top 10 mocks the last many times I've looked. It's funny, you look back on the past 5-6 drafts you'll see 10-15 d-men in the top 20 that nobody heard of and not highly talked about that are playing in top 4 positions. Ristolinen, Brodin, Lindholm, Cowan, OEL, Myers, Carlson, Gardiner, Trouba to name some. You can say that this is a weak draft, but I haven't heard anyone like Mackenzie say so, seems like we need to tank and trade for picks to me until I hear otherwise. #Chychrun |

I don't know what you're talking about. Burrows and Higgins played without their hearts. That takes guts.
Never mind. Apparently they played without guts as well. |

There's quality players in every draft, some just more so than others. You've just gotta pick better. |

My point is this: We haven't chosen D in the first round since Bourdon. I thought we should have taken Kylington over Boesner last year. He's having a hell of a year already and is a flames prospect... which I dislike even more. We're a few years overdue to pick some d, would love to see them trade for a first and take 2 or take a guy like Day in the 2nd round. When a guy is the unanimous #2 before the season, he obviously has huge potential hence: #Chychrun. |

Says you, and even if they are we need a top four guy three years from now. We have to stock the cupboards, they are empty.
edit: people said the same about Ristolinen, wouldn't mind him in the lineup right now and going forward. |

Not says me
Chychrun was cut by team Canada jr team, not an NHL team , an all star jr team.
That says a lot of hockey experts ( not me ) feel he is not ready . |

I don't know what to expect from some of these guys, but certainly I am expecting more. If you aren't scoring, do something else. There were some moments with some good puck movement... I guess we just got out everythinged by a superior opponent. |

He's only 17 years old, the WJC is an 18 and mostly a 19 year old tourney. Very few 17 year olds make the team if you look at the history. |

I understand that might be your argument, but every guy chosen for that team on d are 19 year olds that have lots of expereince and have attended NHL camps. I agree it doesn't speak well for him, but there have been great players not make WJC at 17, especially on defense. |

He will be ready in 3-4 years. Not someone you waste a top 10 pick on. I want my top 10 pick to be playing in a year or two |

Kylington....really??
Yes they need to take some defencemen sooner than later, however, you pick the BPA in the first round. In two years Benning has picked six dmen out of his fourteen picks. |

Defencmen typically just take longer. Continuing to take forwards in the first round is Einstiens definition of insanity: doing the same thing and expecting different results. |

Our D on the farm is not as bad as people think. Look at Pedan Hutton and Biega this year. We have Tryamkin Subban Brisebois and may Neill waiting in the wings also.
Our NHL D sucks but the farm is not as horrible as some think |

I don't know, he's projected top five and he's a big body, he could surprise and make it after a few years. Regardless, you take the BPA. |

In the 3rd round or below. Hedman, Trouba, Ristolinen, Weber, Seabrook, Suter, Jones, Ekblad, Doughty, Josi, Karlsson, OEL, SUbban all have one thing in common:1st round picks. |

Your telling me things I know. My point is you don't draft a top 10 player that will be ready in 4 years. You can do that later on and get a comparable |
