Oilers thread is more gay porn and troll female doging than anything ...flames thread is usually dead unless the oilers thread is shut down....you guys are generally pretty decent to bs with minus a few guys crying about reffing ...can even talk football in here ...well until the Seahawks are eliminated ...

I seriously think if your ever going to take a chance on a guy this is the perfect situation ...gagner has skill

There is some merit to what you're saying but I don't think they have the cap space to claim him.

Starting to think the management group wants it to appear they are holding the course for the playoffs but really want to miss it. This sh!t is worse than politics. Saying one thing and doing, or not, another. Guess you can't blame them with our fickle market.

You have shown 10 Dmen over the last 10 years that were drafted in the first round playing now. There are 210 Dmen playing in the NHL every year at an average of 7 per team. So of the 2100 Roster spots that have been filled over the last 10 years let's say 70 spots have been filled by players drafted in the first round.i am sure other first round busts like Clendenning have played a few games so let's round it up to 100 out of 2100 spots have been first rounders. That is not very good odds.
- VANTEL

Clendenning is a second rounder. The fewest busts happen in the first round, followed by the second round. It's pretty straight forward. There are a lot more 1 and 2 defenceman picked in the first two rounds, than in later rounds. These are simple, pretty straightforward truths IMO. there are 64 top 2 d-man spots, I would say 60-70% are picked in the first two rounds. When is the last time we picked d in the first two rounds?

Tanking takes place at the managerial level with the manipulation of the lineup. Coaches and players are usually trying to win regardless. But there is nothing they can do once MNGT decides to go after a draft pick which is what this team needs to do. Whether people on here like it or not it's what needs to happen. By keeping Burrows Weber Higgins Hamhuis Vrbata and a few others in the lineup Benning is eyeing a draft pick. If we somehow magically make the PO's (which we shouldn't)...but if we do mentalities will shift. Benning has made some good moves and is not a moron. He knows we are a bottom 10 team right now with 8 OT losses and a sub .500 record so basically we are 8 games below .500. I'm thinking he is scouting hard an seriously eyeing up a top 6 pick for the upcoming draft...hoping.
- LordHumungous

Accurate. I think he is eyeing one of the big finnish wingers or a d-man.

Maybe JB not picking up Stoll is a true sign he is in tank mode. We've needed that kind of center since Malholtra and he passes to minny... hmm

Yeah I don't really know what their plan is ...looks like it's just stay the course for now and try and make playoffs yet infuse some youth ...you won't truly know until the fall out of the race ...as long as they are in it then I don't know what will happen come deadline

Don't know why people think he would be a good fit after the Canucks got rid of Kassian as quickly as possible?

and at that cap hit for Stoll... seemed like a no brainer.

We have Henrik and Cracknell, both centres with injuries hampering their ability to take a draw, Sutter out, McCann struggling mightily to win any draw and Horvat doing okay.

If we were really in it to make the playoffs, JB would have made a move by now. Not making the playoffs is okay, but I still don't like seeing the prospects and even Henrik getting roughed up.

Putting players in a position to fail at a young age and hoping for a high draft pick ....you've gone full oilers ...
- Redmile247

Rookies need to step up to cover injuries all the time...has nothing to do with succeeding or failing. This team needs to pick top ten for the next three seasons that much is apparent. How it happens is irrelevant.

Now if we ruined 5 no 1 picks THEN it would be full OILERS!!

lol...

The new blog is up. 47th-overall pick Tyler Toffoli gives me more hope that good players can be found anywhere in the draft...

gange has skill yes but theres a reason hes bounced around the league and isnt worth a pair of socks anymore. theres a reason hes waived. Cant exactly recall what it was but I think for memory it was a drinking problem....

so welcome to our forum then if you intend to talk hockey like it appears you do. We have had a lot of trolls come in and cause poop so forgive those who may get their backs up. But they are usually oilers and leafs fans, not flames. You will see this in short order too I am sure.

personally I am hockey fan 1st, canadian hockey secondly and canucks after that. I do have interest in several teams going back to childhood. So nothing wrong with you loving canucks and flames too. In fact we had a guy like that not long ago....
