When Kane and Bogo left our city for a very generous return it was a great day for us and I knew would be the start of a frustrating time for Buffalo, a team I have always liked.
Bogo and Kane were both rushed by the Thrashers into the NHL and continue to pay for it. They each are physical specimens, they each look the part in practice and pre-game warmups......then the puck drops.
Bogo - has a super low hockey IQ, cannot stay healthy for a variety of reasons
Kane - again low hockey IQ, loves to skate fast and shoot the puck over the net
That is what they are, they are not rookies and will not turn it around. Kane will be gone from Buffalo in 12-24 months and my guess will play on 4 or 5 teams before he is done. he DOES NOT GET IT...
If you dig deeper Kane had issues in Junior as well, problem child, emphasis on child. Does not carry himself as a leader on any level and was basically "fired" by his teammates last year and he hasn't learned from it. |

So do the Sabres take Rundblad (if they get the opportunity, via waivers)?
If so, I see a D man getting traded, soon. |

No particular reason, enjoy your blogs, but feel sorry for Sabre Fans as they are going to live the Kane dramas as they will not end.

got it...
thanks for the props, but I wouldn't worry about us sabres fans...we've been through two years of agonizing hockey and, speaking for myself, i feel that kane and bogo are two good pieces to move forward with |

The point of any move in hockey is to better your team. I've been seeing a lot of WPG guys on here talking about how Kane/Bogo are the issue with struggles that are happening in BUF, but if examined with how their own team is performing this year to last, it would seem that having those two vs Staff/Myers isn't quite helping out. Last year WPG: 43-26-13 This year 16-17-2. There's still a lot of hockey to be played, but just from the W/L column, WPG has gotten worse. Seeing as it's a what have you done for me lately world, maybe getting rid of those two kinda has backfired on WPG. The futures (picks/prospects) aren't playing yet, but they certainly have regressed. |

After the game yesterday, it's clear to me that this team still lacks team speed. They aren't as slow as molasses like they were last year, but they need a couple more guys that can really move, particularly in Gionta's place.
Reinhart is getting knocked around at the level he did at the beginning of the year, and it was the direct reason Washington got its first goal.
They also need a bonafide sniper on the wing. Evander Kane isn't it. - buffalofan19
From last blog:
I have been harping on the speed part for a while. We are a slow team. |

That is a fair observation for sure, but the Jets did make a decison to jettison 4 veterans from last year (Frolik, Stempniak, Slater and Tilutsy) and go young. Where they are now is pretty much my expectation anyways.
Armia I think is a long-shot to be a productive NHL'er
Lemieux- in junior looks like a beast and if he brings that has a chance
Raslovic - the draft pick, doing well in college so who knows
If both teams feel good about the trade that is all you can ask for ! |

I don't necessarily think they're a "slow team"...they have plenty of players who can skate well, but teams do know how to slow them down and being as young as they are, collectively, they haven't figured out how to counter that yet.
all-said, they have some pretty slow players |

If we can add a Boedker, and maybe a true puck rushing D, I think it will open the ice up for some players.
We might not be that slow, but it's not like our speed is helping the transition game. We rarely catch teams flat footed, or just plain out skate anyone |

And that's a fair point as well. Teams change from year to year, and always will. I think both teams are happy (fan base-wise) with relieving themselves of who they deemed as problems. Bogo and Kane with what has been going on and already been pointed out numerous times, and Stafford with his streaky great play to invisible act he demonstrated his entire career, along with Myers and his showing up out of shape after the lockout, getting injured frequently, and really just never living up to Calder season. I'm fine with it really, as no player will ever be perfect. |

Is probably the biggest disappointment ever he had so much promise when he got drafted I think it's pretty much over for him in the NHL. |

I enjoyed this one, you really caught all of what I observed of the game last night as well.
I felt after the Williams hit we got distracted with what was going to happen (in retaliation.) We got pretty sloppy after that.
In the end, we played decent, ran into a solid and streaking team. We get them again later this week so hopefully we learned our lesson. |

I think one thing our GM wanted to do was get rid of Meyers contract, as he wasnt sold on his play and his ntc was set to kick in the following year.
You guys had a problem on your hands with kane, we needed speed and some semblance of scoring, so both teams took a chance. I think Bogo fills a similar role as meyers with a completely different style and fans and management were done with Stafford. I think there was a mutual agreement that he needed a change of scenery.
I dont think any fan of Buffalo expected either Bogo or Kane to be heroes or leaders. The GM was/is looking to build a different style of team than the previous GM and stafford and Meyers were holdovers from that previous regime.
It was a hockey trade. Winnipeg might eek us out depending how the picks/prospects develop.

I think both fan bases feel the exact same way about the roster players dealt.
WPG was just as frustrated with Kane/Bogo as some were with Staff/Myers.
It's the picks/prospects that tipped the scales IMO |

McCabe/Bogosian were great last night
Larsson looks like a completely different (better) player when he's at centre instead of wing. - Sabresfan-365
I think Larsson's ability to play center is a prime reason why Girgensons should be on the top 6 wing somewhere. |
