There were a few more big time hits back the year after the lockout, but there were not the sheer number of hits, simply because players weren't slowed down enough to be able to be hit.

I liked that mccabe took a good run at him right after and didnt even bother about the puck, but i would have rather seen someone on the ice jump him right on the spot. OV went right back at mccabe at the end of the sequence and i would have rather seen mccabe put his stick right in OVs grill.

Following almost every big hit that IS clean players want to fight, just look at the delauries hit. So i dont understand why on a dirty hit like that no one steps up on this team. Are delauries and foligno the only ones on this roster willing?

Reminds me of the old days of the Jordan Rules in the NBA. Stardom does earn some respect but Ovi seems to get away with really questionable hits a lot.

I agree with you, and I think Kane is an bumhole. Even if it turns out he was "just" cheating on his girlfriend and everything was consensual. That's something an bumhole does. But the object of the NHL is to make money, and to make money you have to, unless you're the Leafs, win games, go to the playoffs, and do well and possibly win a Stanley Cup. No where does it say that you have to have a team full of nice, decent guys to do that. You have to weigh the negative PR of having bumholes on your team against the positive PR of winning. Look at the Patriots. They have/had a lot of bumholes on their teams and they have 4 Super Bowl wins in the last 14 years. How many did the Bills have during that time, only drafting/signing "nice" guys? It seems that after Ralph died they finally realized that excluding a guy because he's a Richard is not a sound business move.

And think of your job. I bet there's at least one guy who brags about lying to his girlfriend/wife. Whether it's about going out and drinking with his buddies when he says he's working late, or whether it's lying about working late when he's actually cheating on her. Or he brags about cheating the company out of time/money.

Agree, but then you'd have pandemonium, and whomever, whoever? I always screw that up. jumped him would've had the book thrown at him. Was it less than 5 minutes? I wasn't paying that close attention to the clock. Then yeah, even more so. Per the rule book, he'll get a pretty much automatic one game suspension (it's up to the discretion of the director of hockey operations) and the coach gets fined $10,000. Deslauries is the only guy who doesn't consistently get his ass kicked. Foligno is willing, as is Weber, but they lose far more often than they win.

Damn, that is expensive. I've only been to Panera a couple times. It's really expensive for the amount of food you get. A lunch for 2 of cold-cut sandwiches, chips and drinks is like $20+.

While he has been good in his role minus offensive production, you dont spend 14th overall picks on players that show the capability of playing in the NHL at 19, and showed at 20 that he has some finish in his game to "groom" him into a third line shut down center role.

I have wanted him on eichels wing since the beginning of the season. Let larsson play 3rd line center and legwand 4th. Its frustrating as hell that a guy who scored 15g in 61 games at 20 years of age cant even get on the 2nd PP unit. And yet we have gionta shooting what, 3% getting that ice time.

Its not about wins and losses in fights. Mccabe should have cross checked him right in the teeth when OV came back at the end of the sequence to hit him again.

Its not like OV was going to drop the gloves and square off either, its about sending a message. Since the refs wont do it. In the context of the play im sure it would have been a 2 min minor at worst.

Like i said i understand you cant do that and put your team on the PK with that little time left but then again i completely disagree with the instigator rule so i guess its a lose lose.

Going to be fun rematch tomorrow. Like Pach states in the blog, coach Trotz has the Caps playing solid, even- keeled hockey, bit I wonder if theres any spillover or bad blood that might get them off their game a bit.

I'm not so certain his moral character is so much worse that many others that fans cheer for...he just got caught in public.
Jim Kelly, of recent God-like character according to many, was much the same...a real womanizer when he was married and had kids...hell the Bills team of the 90 was loaded with those of bad moral character if you measure it the same ...they were trashed the night before the NYG Super Bowl!!!
