I think 3rd line is ideal for Captain Gio. Pains me to say, but I much prefer Nolan's use of Girgs over Bylsma's. - PrinceChill
there's a couple things I'm not digging about Bylsma.
When they win late in a game (Boston) it's because they "stuck to the system."
When they lose, it's never because of the system.
What they were trying to do on the PP yesterday just simply wasn't working.
Yet they just kept doing it.
I would think a coach would have other systems to play against different opponents.
I think a Penquins fan eluded to this when we hired Bylsma. That he just makes no adjustments and sometimes, it bites him in the ass.
Line combos are looking okay recently, but i've never ben a fan of impatient line jugglers. Give players time to gell.
At least he's praising Girgensons for taking his role by the reigns. But he deserves a promotion. He doesn't need to replace Gionta on the PP. But throw the guy a bone once in a while, you know? |

Here's a thought...why not put Ennis, Larsons and Gionta together and tell them, like last year when they played well together..."screw the System, go play pond hockey"...see what happens.
Then put Moulson on with Eichel and Kane...use him like a Striker in soccer...just hang out at the opposing blue line and wait for a feed.

I think like someone mentioned earlier, they seem obligated to play Gionta because he took a Job no one wanted during the tank.
I wouldn't really have a problem with that 3rd line. I definitely thought after the way Larsson played last year that he was going to get the #3C job and Girgensons was going to get bumped up to a top 6 winger.
Girgensons has been up there at points, but not for very long... |

Fair points about the coach and system. It did seem like the pp in the third got much better...at least they had 2 or 3 shots on goal. It's tougher to point to adjustments when you are keeping pace with a very good team, and what you are doing is going fairly well. There were not a ton of shots from either team all game, so yeah...the pp shot them in the foot again. Otherwise, not a bad effort. |

I'd be fine with taking Gionta off the PP. Not impressed with his shot, passing or ability to keep the puck in the zone.

It was their entries that were really driving me nuts last night.

I think they're keeping him on out of "captain respect." Who knows, he may have even have a verbal agreement from GMTM that he gets X amount of minutes per game. I still have no idea why anyone would have signed here while we were having the "clearance sale" of Darcy's team. |

Money, role on team, and family's close, and he probably knew the writing was on the wall skill-wise. |

Would anyone here do Girgensons for Burakovsky?
Saw it on Hfboards today and I had to really think about it (which isn't the norm for that site). |

CHIP will head back to a big University gig. I think he has realized he can't man handle professionals the way he did college kids.

on one hand I think it's lack of talent
but then I look at the roster, and really think it's the system holding the team back |

System may be holding them back to an extent but it can only hold them back so much.
We've got a top 9 forward on the 1st line, a 36 year old with brick hands on the powerplay and a past his prime shot blocker on our first pair.
The system is making the boring, but it's not why they are bad. |

Cept the books aren't canon anymore. Though I did hear on a podcast they threw a bit of a tribute towards them, so you could be right.
And also, I think there's a book that came out a bit before the movie that explains the big fight that happened on that planet to leave it with the ships and things all crashed/blown up there. - stashu
There is one book thats canon, Starwars: Aftermath. Supposed to fill in some of the blanks between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Haven't read it myself though.
