Zubrus (6'5", 225lbs) definitely doesn't bring the offense, but he can still hold onto the puck. Him next to Thornton (6'4", 220lbs) could make for a difficult line to handle.
By the way, I really dig Gostisbehere's game. - TheRollingPuck
I really dig Crosby's play this year. |

US steamrolling the Swiss team that took a 2-0 lead against Canada and brought them to the brink of defeat. Love it. (frank) you, Lowry, you nepotist. - Mononoke

According to the CBA, when a player is traded, movement clauses are voided. A player can request that a movement clause remain intact, in order to accept a trade, and the team trading for the player has to agree to it. - MJL

And Umberberger in his right mind would make it so that any clause he could keep would stay in tact for him to be dealt. If you say you wouldn't you're lying through your teeth. So Hextall kept it in tact to get out of a contract with a NMC and a longer term at the same hit a year. He wanted out from the length of Hartnell's deal and chose that path out. Yes it sucks for the current production but he got Snider to buy into a long term vision of the team for once rather than a win at all costs attitude this franchise had for decades that never worked. |

Umberger says websites that track players' clauses are wrong -- that he has a no-movement clause. That explains why Gagner was sent down - PhillySportsGuy
Simple Sam is apparently unaware that Gagner was a healthy scratch for the past three games.

Why would the team send Umberger down instead of Gagner when the coach was playing Umberger ahead of him? |

LOL, what I think, or what I would do is irrelevant. Umberger seems to think it is still intact, and he's a pretty good source as to what is still in his contract. The purpose of my post was not to confirm or dispute what is in Umberger's contract. but simply to shed some insight on the rules of the CBA, and how that situation works. |

Who knows, but Umberger if he had a NTC or NMC could've made it part of agreeing to waive to accept the deal to Philly. |

I guess it's possible, but that seems unlikely to me given how desperate he was to get out of CBJ. |

Wanting out of one city really bad doesn't mean you will want the same in the next city. Keeping the clause when you get to the next city it would be nice to be able to have the choice if you get sent out again. Couldn't hurt to ask to keep it first, if they say no it's not a deal killer until you say no deal after they say no. |

Umberger if he can stay healthy is still a decent role player. He won't live up to his cap hit. He had a solid game against the Blues. Hopefully, he can play like that consistently. |

If he was making 3rd or 4th line money he wouldn't be as dreadful but as the situation currently sits he is dreadful.
Yes he's played decently recently. But I will still be glad when he's gone and a younger player can take them minutes or a free agent is brought in for that cash and Raffl can be demoted to 4th line duty. |

generalfanager listed him as an NTC but he told Sam Carchidi he has a NMC... so not sure which RJ has but since he stayed and Gagner with the lower cap hit got shipped out I'd expect NMC not NTC. I now refuse to type his name again... |

There's no question that his cap hit is way too high for the quality of player that he is. Raffl is not a 4th line player, and it would be a mistake to demote him to the 4th line. |

If you bring in a top 6 winger who of the current top 6 do you demote?
Your choices are pretty much Schenn or Raffl. |

Cap hit is irrelevant as the cap savings would be the same (950k) |

Raffl is ideally suited to play on a 3rd line in my opinion. |

EVeryone will be, unfortunately it's a waiting game. They can't trade him and if the NMC is accurate, they can't send him to the AHL, either.
I'd like to see Raffl switch spots with Laughton right now, myself. I'd like to see the Flyers give the kid more minutes. |
