Hakstol is playing his checking line of White, PEB, VV as the 3rd line. Whoever gets demoted is going with Laughts for 10 min a game if that. - dragonoffrost
Aware of that, I was talking more about a long term vision of where Raffl fits in as a player. My mistake if you weren't.
Do you follow other teams in the NHL? I get wanting the Flyers to be better, but dont act like everyone would be 3rd liners on any other team - YuenglingJagr
I only care about the better teams in the league.
I don't get off on comparing our forward group to other crap teams
Look at the forward groupings on teams like Montreal, Florida
Now outside of g, Jake, Simmonds. Which one of our other forwards would bump somebody out of their top 6?
Here's why you really shouldn't worry about Ghost on defense:
He doesn't have to be Nik Grossmann in his own zone b/c he's pretty bonkers at defending his own blueline and denying opponents entry at all.
(That Russian ain't bad either) - Tomahawk
Most of the game is really played in the neutral zone, and Gostisbehere is a really good skater that allows him to be aggressive, plus he has a really good stick. His speed also helps him on puck retrievals. Gostisbehere is never going to be a shutdown defender, and he should be used properly in matchups. There is always going to be some concern with him defensively, because teams are going to try and take advantage of his size deficiency, and try to get the puck behind him to work cycles. He also can be attacked at the net.
Jagr, huberdaeu, jokinen, barkov, trocheck, r smith, pirri.
I've listed 7 for each team. All have more pts than any forward on our team not named Simmonds, Jake, or g. Most have not spent near as much time on a line with an elite talent like g, or spent most the season on the PP1 unit like b schenn has
We don't need top 9 forwards. We need top 6 forwards

More points on the season = better players. Nothing else matters but scoring and setting up goals at the current moment. Dale Weise > Brayden Schenn. But last season, Raffl > Weise.

What would happen if you took one of the Flyers forwards, and placed them on the Canadiens team? How many points would they score?
