Brainstorming but what about pokka for drouin? TT goes to third line rw, JD auditions at #1 LW, shaw drops back into bottom six - ikeane
Sorry Keaner, Yzerman might as well get drunk and vomit on the owner's wife.
IF, and it's a big IF, the Hawks inquire or have inquired about Drouin, Tampa would probably start the conversation with TT. And quite honestly, that would not be out of line with what would be expected around the league.
Just in case anyone needs a reminder, this is the kid we're talking about:
It's QMJHL competition, but it's not like he's Alexandre Daigle or JP Dumont. This kid has AMAZING hands, recognition, and very good lower body strength for his size.

Thanks for the insight, was trying to find a solution to a non-existent problem
Grain of salt disclaimer applies here but Eklund listing four teams looking to trade for Drouin. One is the yotes. Big if but if they got him i would thing their plan is to move on from Boedker and maybe have Chicago get their true #1LW
Anyone else feel that Seabrook is having a bit of a jekyll and hyde season? I mean, offensively this year is shaping up to be one of his very best, but on the defensive side he hasn't been as fantastic. I like Seabrook, but here are some stats.
For the Hawks D, only Scuderi has worse Corsi 5v5.
Shots for / Shots against - Scuderi/Rosy are worse.
Giveaways on D 5v5 Seabrook is the team leader with 45 and that is the same as Hjalmarsson and TVR (who are #2 and #3) combined.
I could give a number of other stats, but my point is that for things like shots/possession/scoring chances he is having a down year and is "on paper" having the hardest time of the top 4.
I make it no secret that I felt that him and Svedberg struggled in a big way when they were paired together, which I'm sure impacted these #'s. When Keith was out, there was more tough assignments for them defensively and it wasn't pretty.
Anyway, I would like to see Seabrook have a strong second half at both end of the rink and I think it will be a huge boost for the team.
One other interesting thing. Hawks are 11-10-2 when outshooting their opponent and 10-3-2 when they've been outshot. Add that they are 12-1-2 when leading after 1 period and 15-0-1 when leading after 2. That re-enforces that they just seem to give up a lot of shots when they have the lead early but seem to still be able to able to win. - breadbag
I blame this on Q's blender. Then again, playing with #2 is a luxury for anyone.

Playing 3 more minutes a night during Keiths recovery, different defensive partners, long season after long season and to many new forwards not doing their part with or without the puck. Considering all of this#7 has been pretty steady
So this is where stats can mislead people, I figured since no statistician was available I sat down and figured out the past 15 games, aka month of December this is what I found
5 on 5 hockey
GF. GA
22. 24
There was 1 goal that was scored right at the end of PP shift for the Stars I believe
Let's face it, the Hawks came out the first time vs the Avs and didn't work hard, they looked flat vs Buffalo, Carolina and after Sharp scored that tough angle goal the Hawks went on Xmas break, let's see what happens for the month of January and I'll say it again big pot of soup and Q's the chef who may need an ingredient or 2 but he's focused on getting all these new parts ready for the playoffs, the system works everyone just needs to know what their part is in it
>Happy New Year, JJ!
>Great blog -- sure makes the case of why 1LW is the priority
>#89 on the Yotes is indeed the right player -- wonderful skater, great vision -- how likely is the challenge
>Toews line has very much struggled sustaining possession in the OZ this year -- think the D need to be more involved with Toews' line as too many possessions have ended with Toews getting bearhugged, tripped or whatever and Hossa also behind the goal line
>Would like to see Toews line with more direct puck support entering the OZ -- a series of drop passes -- and generate shots off the rush -- instead of entering 3 across as they often do
>Hawks forward and D gap has been too large -- even in these last 2 wins -- Hawk D playing way too passive, backing up way too early, and giving up the Hawk blueline way too easy -- tells me the "3-core" is still mentally gassed
>#24 has been a much needed energy injection for the Hawks -- played a very strong game vs Avs
>Really happy to see Desi having some success
>Hope the Hawks can find the formula back to a 4 line team

Great hockey sense, very slick. Possible future PP weapon. Looks like a young Phil Housley. - acmidd28
The word from guys watching the tournament and seeing him play in the SHL is that his skating needs a lot of work before he can think about playing in the NHL. But - IF - he can improve his skating he could be a pretty nice player in a couple years.
Does Tampa need a RW? If they do, this would make a ton of sense. I know JD was the 3rd overall and Teuvo a bottom 1st rounder but Tampa might do this deal if the Hawks throw in a 2nd or 3rd round pick too? - Lido_Shuffle
TT was #18 - so not really at the bottom of the first round, but after a few years it doen't really matter because they both have more potential than actual results at this point. I would say TT is the better player and if anyone is going to add it should be TB in a TT for Drouin. They're both on the 2nd year of their ELC so contract wise it's a wash. I don't know how dedicated Drouin is to playing defense which would be a must for Q to play him.

In context who you are partnered with matters a lot with dmen. Only until recently has Seabrook spent much time with Keith and for much of the year he hasn't been with Hammer either.
Seabrook checks boxes that would go unchecked...He blocks about as many shots or more than Hammer, he's the best outlet passer, the most physical and has the best shot from the point.
That said Seabrook was better earlier, especially when Keith was out, and has been somewhat sporadic.....But so has everyone else not on the Kane line or named Shaw or Crawford.
